    Show us your hair do's....

Thanks Zombi! Good luck :) From what I've found, making sure that the rows are very defined makes the waves look much better. ^^

    Nothing but Seamed Stockings

Does anybody know anywhere that sells higher denier (20+) seamed stockings? I really liked the What Katie Did retro seamed stockings - and they were such a bargain too. They're discontinued now unfortunately. The 15 denier replacements are far too thin for me. :(

    Help with my hair please!

As Jane said, setting lotion is a bit of a must with longer hair. Also make sure your hair isn't too clean :) If after trying some of the tips found in other pin curling threads you still can't get it to work, try a different method such as sponge rollers or perm rods. Practise is the most...

    Help with my hair please!

It sounds like a great length! Mine is just past my shoulders at the moment and I find it a bit too long. Of course, your hair type contributes towards what lengths are best, too. Mine is very thick and unwilling! Have you tried vintage styling before? What methods are you using? :)

Show Us Your 1930s Beach Pyjamas

They're lovely! They look nice and comfy. What made you get rid of them? :(

    Dyeing Clothes

Not as vibrant as I'd have liked, but I'm happy with it :)

    Dyeing Clothes

Currently watching over (what I think is) a 40s/50s rayon dress in a tub of purple dye. Really hoping it turns out well - I'll post before and after pics if so :)

I'm liking the look of that eyeshadow palette.

Vintage make up for eyeglass wearers

As others have said, I think brows become a lot more important when wearing glasses (especially when the glasses attract attention). I've been quite brow-lazy lately, and thus have stopped wearing my glasses when I probably should. Hopefully my friends don't mind me not recognising them until...

    Vintage Manicures

Ooooft Darhling, they look great! I usually wear Bordeaux but you're making me consider Fishnet Stockings. Lovely lipstick, too :)

high end vs low end products ?

I've been using Max Factor Masterpiece Max mascara since it was released, and I just love it. I can't compare it to any high-end mascaras though, as I've never considered buying one. ;) Bourjois do some fantastic products - their Healthy Mix foundation is comparable to some high end liquid...

    The Middy Thread

Wow Jane! That is exactly what I mean, and I'd never even considered that. Thank you so much. I've been pinning them up like you said, but as my hair is fairly thick it can be hard to conceal everything - so I think I'll get it cut next time I visit the hairdresser. But I'll definitely try some...

    The Middy Thread

Whenever I curl my hair, the bottom layer at the back falls out really quickly, and looks quite silly as my hair is naturally extremely straight. Would it be okay if I cut that bottom layer shorter than the rest - so that it's shorter than where the bottom curls sit? I don't know much about...

    Show us your hair do's....

Thank you Katinka! ^^ Ms Raven Lady: I'm also quite new, but lately I've been practising a lot. :) I used small and medium sponge/foam rollers, and sprayed each section of hair with a mix of setting lotion and water before rolling. I rolled the fringe/bangs section backwards, with 2 small...

    The Middy Thread

Hello, I'm new! I've been lurking on this particular thread for a long time, thank you so much for all of the information and lovely pictures. You ladies have fantastic hair! A few weeks ago I went to my hairdresser armed with middy diagrams and examples, but she didn't feel very comfortable...

    Sunglasses for women!

Dead Men's Spex have a lovely selection of vintage frames (and you can browse by era), but I often come across a lot of cheap, vintage-style modern sunglasses in T K/J Maxx. T K Maxx change their stock regularly (at least in the UK), so it's worth it to keep checking. :)
