Sculpture Pin Curler

[W-D Forties]

Iv'e only just heard of the Sculpture Pin Curler and being rubbish at pin curls it looks ideal for me. I do have fine straight hair and find curling it a nightmare as it just slips out of rollers.However, I do seem to have a cupboard cluttered with gadgets I either can't use or think are no good and I'm not keen to waste any more money.

Have many of you used it, especially those of you with similar hair, and what did you think?

I'm really interested in this! At the moment I try my best with fingers, and end up trying to use mascara tubes etc. The sculpture pin curler sounds like it would make things so much easier and quicker! However, it's quite expensive for what it is (+ intl shipping) so I'm very reluctant about it. I too would love to hear what the ladies of the Lounge have to say about it.

It looks intriguing, but methinks it's just a tarted-up version of the Sally's gadget that Tatum posted about... the packaging looks lovely but it does seem like that's what you're paying (heftily!) for. I haven't tried either of them though.

Hi W-D Forties, I checked Sally's in the UK and they don't stock that. However someone did mentioned just using a wooden dolly peg. I gave that a try and it worked quite well. Given I had one in my peg bag, a much cheaper deal all round!

I used to have one of those curling things (couldn't make it work, but I must have been trying to blow dry long thick soaking wet hair using it) I've seen them in Sally's recently, and they are a good deal bigger than the sculpture pin curler, just so you know and won't be disappointed if you go to some trouble to get one.

I got it, but just the "refill" version to save money. This thing has saved me, I have NEVER been able to do pin curls before this and while it wasn't exactly quick (yet?), it did a perfect job. Everything was curled easily and evenly and the results were fantastic. I don't think I'll ever stop using it.

I recently bought it and really like it! Right now they're having a special for 2 curlers for the price of one, and you also receive a lovely little box, hairstyle booklet, as well as an awesome (and HUGE) poster of retro hairstyles. I'm happy I have one for home and one for travel if need be.

I did find it expensive and I think the shipping was $10 coming from Australia, but I received mine really fast and it truly does help me pin curl!

I also have very thin, fine hair and it seems to help my do what my figures couldn't figure out how to. I only wish the "larger" end was even bigger, similar to that of the Sally tool posted previously. It only works if you take really small sections of hair, which of course lends itself to tighter curls.

I've ordered this and am basically getting nothing but 80s style frizz no matter how much I brush out the curls! I have great results when I pin curls just with my fingers. Are these curls just too tight for me? Please help before I send it back

I finally decided to order one and it should be with me within the next week. I'm really looking forward to seeing if it will speed up my sets much - I'll post my results here!

I've just finished setting my hair, and goodness did it take a while... I'm not an expert at pincurling, it takes me about 45 minutes to set my hair using my fingers. The sculpture pin curl added a LOT to that time - I have very thick hair and this forces me to use much smaller amounts of hair than I would normally. I was really hoping this would cut down on curling time. Hopefully the results tomorrow are worth it !
