Hello,
I was looking to get a nice dress fedora but don't want to break the bank to do so. I am considering the Biltmore Eleganza or the Stetson Firenze. Of the two, which do you guys think is best, and why? Also, are there other suggestions?
Thanks.
I like the Biltmore quality
I own three Biltmores and each one is of very good quality. I would not hesitate to get another. As a matter of fact, I just returned from Canada and found several Biltmores in a hat shop outside Niagara Falls. Had I been traveling alone instead of with my wife, I...
Panizza
Just won this hat on ebay tonight. What do you guys think of it? Does anyone know about this brand or have one like this? Seems that it could be a nice dress-casual hat.

Oh, well. I guess I will have to forget about trying to obtain the one I am looking at. For those concerned, there is a beautiful Kevin Andrews Open Road, XLO on ebay, sized 7 1/4. Perhaps another FL-er will get it.
I normally just get my hat size as indicated in a hat. But if I had the chance to get a long oval or an extra long oval, would I have a problem in fitting it? Can the long oval or extra long oval be reshaped to a normal oval? Is it feasible to get the extra long oval if the price is low enough...
I lurked around the lounge for quite a while before acquiring my first fedora. I had managed to buy one throw-down beater hat that was not of very good quality. Strangely, I received compliments on that one. So, in December of 09 I purchased my first hat. I was so naive that I didn't even notice...
Thanks.
I had tried the google search, but failed to come up with the information I was seeking. The thread you provided is exactly what I was looking for.
I am still a bit apprehensive about doing the cleaning myself. Perhaps I should get a real beater hat to test the process out first...
I have recently won three vintage fedoras via ebay and after reading various threads here, I am considering cleaning them using naphtha. From what I have read, it appears that I should submerge the hat into the solution overnight and then take it out and let it air dry naturally. Is that...
Try this link to the pictures. I paid $89.95 for it.

I have been seeking a nice brown dress fedora and I found this Como on ebay. Does this seem like a good deal? I did not want to chance missing out on it.

I was watching the Adam, and almost bid on it. But I had already submitted a bid on this one and had a good feeling that I would win it. I think we both did okay.

I guess I should have thought this through before posting my original question in this forum. :eusa_doh:
I think the real question I should be seeking input on is 'how does a guy manage to acquire a collection of fine hats on limited resources'?
Is it unusual to have multiple Panama Monte Cristi's? Or is money better spent in getting a single one and using the remaining money to get a nice dress fedora?
