There is a thread somewhere about the "challenge". We don't know of anyone that has actually won one of these. The reserve is never reached it seems. I've bid over $100 and came up short.

Won a Stetson "Golden Age" fedora for a whopping sum of $.01

It's a 6 7/8 and I'm normally a 7, but for $.01 I figured I didn't have much to lose....would it be heresy to take the ribbon off and put it on another hat?

That hat is exactly what I had in mind on my "Delaney and Bonnie" post this week. If you listen to the linked song, and think what Delaney Bramlett ought to be wearing on stage at the time, my idea of it was that hat exactly. I've seen many engravings of hats like that during the 1860s, and I think it's a cool style. I might wear one sometime, as you say, for fun.

I landed that one. It's my first Dobbs. It looks like a good one, and I'm hoping it will be. I'm sorry you didn't catch it, but my guess is we all end up competing for the same hats sooner or later.

Nice find Gene! I had one just like it. Wife was "watching" it while I went for a run in the beach. When I came back, it had vanished. Luckily I was wearing the hat.
