Good find, p51! Although the photos are probably black and white it should be a coffee table item, nevertheless. May you have hours of happy thumbing through that treasure!
An AAF veteran (14th AF, CBI theater, B-25 gunner) had a Cooper that his adult children had given him since his original gear had long since disappeared. When he passed away last year his children told their mother to give the jacket to me ( I had been visiting him as his pastor for several...
Edward, I had two cats, also, r.i.p., and they did baptize a few jackets, leather and wool. The wool was never quite the same after cleaning, but the leather survived.
Barman, thanks for all the poses in both jackets. Your Cooper ,which is the same size as mine, fits you more naturally in the collar than mine . Welcome to TFL.
My parents had a grandfather clock that looked almost identical to the Ridgeway. After they passed away my brother sold the clock to someone near-by since we all lived too far away to economically transport it. May you have many years of enjoying its pleasant sounds.
Having located the cap devices I discovered that the cavalry piece actually has an 8 and a C in place of the 7 & A. The bugle has a 6 & B, and crossed cannon simply has an 11 over the intersection. I believe I paid $3 each for them sometime around 1970. Sorry that I have no means to photo...
Highlander, 1895 would probably be right for originals. I also obtained a curved bugle device about the same size. I have yet to dig them out of a closet in another residence that I only get to on weekends. I will try to remember to do so this Friday, the 13th (maybe it will bring good luck).
Highlander, I have the same hat device, I believe, which I got in an antique store in Bergen County NJ at least 45 years ago. I got it along with some other repro "Civil War era" pieces. If compared to those of the late 1800's it would be smaller. I will have to dig mine out of storage and...
I agree with jamespowers, as I have used Kilz over the years for a variety of stains and odors. One coat usually works on cat urine, but a second coat absolutely seals it in forever.
My friend and I were looking at PA-22 Tri-Pacers as a possible investment in the 70's and we tried out a '56. It was the most "seat-of the pants" flying I ever experienced.
Nice Victorian look on the exterior, Steermen. May you enjoy many years in your home. The shake-shingles will darken with age. Does the interior have period style woodwork and high ceilings?
