The League is a film I want to enjoy but it's just not that good. It's starts well, but ultimately flounders and fails. The comics are interesting, to say the least, with some excellent artwork.
As for myself the wife finally got me to set down and watch, My Fair Lady it was excellent.
On the topic of strong coffee my grandfather, who is quite the coffee drinker, explained that the new Nitro Coffee that seems all the rage lately was too much coffee for him. I am admittedly apprehensive about trying any myself. From my own experience though I was surprised by the quality of...
Last night after my lovely wife and I shared a bottle of chianti (our toddler was very upset that we weren't sharing our tea with him), I decided to set down and enjoy a scotch and soda while we watched an episode of The Blacklist. Perhaps it was the effect of the wine but I may have poured...
I reckon perhaps that pairing my palm leaf hat and a bottle of chianti makes as much sense as Dean Martin singing country and western music, which is to say (as Bob Hope observed) about as much sense as Gregg Allman giving Sonny Bono a welcome home party. But by golly some of Dino's country...
I grind my coffee by hand each and every morning. Whether it goes in the boiler, the french press or the moka pot all depends on my mood. That said the default coffee served is boiled. It's served with heavy cream and sugar, or black.
J&B Scotch and Soda yesterday, well, a few of them throughout the evening. After all, were he still alive it would have been Dean Martin's 100th Birthday.
Last night the smell of frying bacon, fresh simmering barbecue sauce, and baked beans fixed with that hickory smoked bacon and barbecue sauce (which is made strong coffee and ancho chiles, among other ingredients) produced an aroma that had me hankering for the smoky nectar of the gods that is...
I reckon I've posted this photo somewhere on this forum before, and it is my avatar, but here is a photo from last year's Independence Day parade. One of my rare more photogenic moments, though I figure it's the horse and mountains more than me that makes the photo.
I had baked beans for a friends wedding and forgot to double the sauce ingredients like I had the amount of beans. The result were beans so bland they may as well have been served dry. So I fixed a quick batch of pinto beans before the ceremony, and left the baked beans jarred at home in the...
A fantastic piece that I only recently learned was actually a poem set to a traditional tune. I know that is a fairly common practice, either way, this is one I enjoy listening to:
I am frequently surprised, or at the least find myself regularly pausing to just enjoy the fact that my wife actually appreciates me for who I am and what my interests are, more than that I find that many of our interests do overlap. After years of other relationships (girlfriends, friends, and...
When I was younger my brother once I asked if I dress the way I do to bother him. I explained that I dress the way I do because I enjoy it, bothering him (now that I was made aware) was an added bonus... That's about the closest I've come to giving someone the finger by making the fashion...
Main street is paved, and one or two others, but the vast majority of them are some combination of dirt or gavel. Honestly, I hope they don't pave more, partially because I enjoy small town living, but also because the paved ones end up in worse repair than the dirt roads. That is certainly...
