I got a pair of 21 oz extra-heavy Iron Heart IHS634S Jeans about a year ago, hoping they would expand the time between being broken-in properly to the moment when they fall apart.
After some initial phase where they felt like cardboard (the Aero FQHH owners know what I am talking about), they...
I was looking for 8" or lower Engineer Boots with a Vibram deep lug sole (100 or better 100R) made out of a light brown rough-out leather for a while, but couldn't find one. I finally gave into the temptation of getting them custom made from Wesco, I'll keep you posted when they materialize :-)
With a physique like that, that tree can wear anything and still look sharp.
Unlike me, since I have been looking to buy a peacoat for ages, but have a hard time finding one that will fit my shoulders while not being too large around the hips.
That's what has kept me from buying a vintage...
I really like that tree. Would you mind posting a picture without that guy with the shopping disorder standing in front of it?
PS: very nice coat indeed, Mr Solo.
I am discussing a deer-skin Aero with Amanda for a while now, but am still on the hunt (excuse the pun) for the kind of skins I want. I have some deer-skin items and simply love the feel of it.
I only have G1 pockets in my Aeros. Two of those jackets only have one pocket, but in retrospect I would have chosen to one of each side in all of them. I like them a lot better than traditional horizontal inner pockets. I have no CCW permit (neither do I need one), but would imagine anything...
What a conincidence! That's shop I got mine from! Although I bought it in the 80ies, but they were at Les Halles!
In fact the leather is quite thick, but lost a lot of color over the years and the woolen cuffs became completely unravelled.
My first was this ugly one, which I bought from my first summer job in Paris when I was 16:
Wore it through most of high school and was totally convinced it was the hottest item back then :-)
Same here, I own two FQHH Aero jackets, absolutely no chemical smell. I would suspect the prior owner has done something to it. As for the fit: some of Aero's models are rather boxy, like the HWYMan, Rallye, but they are also meant to be that way. I actually quite like the feel and look of it...
the "rough out" has no real advantage, as White's also notes in their description. I could imagine that any blemishes become less apparent. Anyhow it can be pretty close to suede in looks and that is indeed a nice touch, see the Oxfords above.
Dear fellow FL-users,
for a while now I have been wondering what to do when somebody posts a picture of themselves in their newly acquired and proudly presented jacket/coat etc. in the case that it does NOT look perfect.
My answer so far has been not to comment at all. Still somehow I am...
I believe that was my Aero Cheyenne with Lochcarron's "Scotland Forever"-Tartan from the Reiver series:
