Pretty much how us Aussie's use and think of the term when referring to a hat. It's a very common word we use for so many meanings down here. It can be a formal function, a party, giving something your best effort, beating someone up (verbally or physically)...
lol and I thought I was the only one with this problem, when I do it I'm never happy with the look for some reason. Some people just go whack, grab and don it on their head and it can look great.
Like Belfastboy said above, it really gives the hat that personal character/touch. I also have...
Thanks for the advice, I think I'll let it find another home. Bit small for me and with Christmas around the corner have enough spending to be done for now lol. Thank you for the info and confirming my thoughts...Still nice hat and gorgeous liner to say the least.
Well new hat yesterday.... plus that ribbon I was thinking about, well was too busy yesterday but lookie at the BG Campdraft now... New ribbon finished.
What do you think, yay or nay!.... I love it.
And now my own touch added back......
FWIW I was brought up a crease and pinch were different, no doubt about it. Crease was upon the top of the crown a pinch or punch was sides of crown.
Bash was a more common term, normally meant the crease but could include the pinch as well but never included the brim (kind of describe the whole...
Hmmm,
Just saw a beautiful supposedly 1920's Borsalino bowler for sale that looks brand new. Man so beautiful, has me thinking about it and I don't like bowlers lol. Such a gorgeous gold pleated liner, how are Borsalino for sizing. This one is a size 7, think it'd be too small for my noggin...
I noticed you already got an answer in the other thread but yes, it's a original Snowy River, I had exact same one bought in the late 80's.
edit: and beaten to it above lol...
Wow, and so it was.... Guess what just came and I already had over the kettle lol...... wait for it........
Funny how just commenting on deadlyhandsome's new BG Campdraft and mine turns up only minutes later...Happy days, as I love the colour, no idea why I was scared of it for so...
I like it, I like it alot! But I do prefer larger ribbons, I think it looks really good. A nice brown colour would work well also, I've got a BGCD coming. May do something similar myself.
Edit: Just went through my ribbon box and wonder how this colour would look on the Bluegrass....interesting
Never mind the above post.
My lovely better half has got me 2 x Fed IV on order already to cheer me up. Dark brown and Carbon Grey so I'll soon join all the happy Akubra Fed owners, Happy Days!
Bugger :(,
I had to face growing old 'n giving up riding anymore altogether this week (I'm an old ba***rd with buggered hands, gave up horses 2 decades ago and now my last iron horse as well as of yesterday) and the Wife felt bad for me.... If you've ever had horses or been a rider (Iron or...
I'm with you Arne, every hat owner should give it a try. If it's a hat like an Akubra the more you bash it trying to get it right the better, more pliable and comfy it'll be in the end. Long as you don't steam a sweatband there's no harm you can really do, most of my hats have NOT been open...
I've not had the Grey Hampton long and I have to say, same as you it's quickly becoming a favorite. I'm really thinking about grabbing a Fed IV, seems it's almost (or should be lol) a requirement of Akubra owners on this forum hehehe. I'm thinking about it in the Dark Brown as I don't have any...
Well I figure that's a decent solution, I'm actually thinking about getting 3 more Akubra's now lol. Well 2 as I did just buy one of them, a CD in bluegrass green which I think might show up tomorrow. I've never had a green hat before, always avoided them but I think the colour is interesting...
Good eyes you have there my friend, it is Cruiser Grey.
I think it's more likely due to the current global situation and it's roll on effect. I'm sure sales numbers have dropped and they most likely have restricted working conditions as well to contend with.
A decent chunk of Akubra sales...
Well you know what they say about a "Happy Wife" lol, but I honestly didn't think it looked bad. Prolly more just it's not a look often seen these days, so it's unusual. I don't look good with any dome or open shapes and avoid curled up brims also, but more about how I see myself looking in...
I agree with Ryan 'n think you wore it well open also, though I do prefer the bash just in my own taste preferences, only thing I don't like about this hat myself is the band, again personal choice.
Nice score, I've looked at Jiffy steamers a few times wondering but they are pretty expensive here ($350-$500ish) so have put up with using a kettle. Was shaping a hat just today and was looking at steamers again just now wishing....
