I thought about this a lot recently, especially about bowlers and top hats. I think they were more popular in europe during the 20´s and 30´s, I can just guess why. I think they would look cool now, but not with appropriate clothes.
Somebody wrote to one of my topics that he wears a top hat...
Dinerman - My god, I´ve never even dreamed about house so big! To be honest, the middle section connecting the two palaces would be enough for me. And now, when you know it, may I move in? :)
I think it was 7 1/4, it fitted me quite well. I´ll have to go there once more and see it more thouroughly.
btw, no wool felt, it´s regular felt. Not silk as regular top hat, but still...
I found a grey felt top hat for 30 dollars at one thrift store today. Can it be worth the money? I can´t imagine any usage (not even improper one). Maybe combining it with the goggles that lied next to it and creating a steampunk monster :) Please, help me with deciding and think of some usage...
The thing is that it seems there are not even the small shops that are not on the internet. Each time I go out, I scan streets for useful thrift stores, hat shops etc. and all hat shops I could find were only reselling Tonaks, this one was the only one with its own workshop - obviously badly...
I have to revive this thread, because I´m so angry... Prague is absolutely hatless city, now I know it for sure. I spent the whole yesterday´s evening on the internet by looking for a place where they could sell supplies for making and repairing hats (especially a stretcher, sweatband and...
I think that the peak of fashion has been reached about 60 years ago and nothing new can be invented - everything is created by modifying older concepts. (that doesn´t apply only for fashion, but for many aspects of our lives)
So why are we somehow stuck in those old concepts? Because it´s...
May be slightly offtopic, but I meet hundreds of tourists in my work every day and each time I see someone wearing a nice fedora style hat (mostly panamas these days) I come closer and say "You´ve got a very nice hat sir!".
I hope it even improves their experience in Prague...
Today for job (custody at the Prague Castle):
linen jacket
black cotton pants
red/white striped shirt with white collar
red/black/green wool tie
generic brown shoes
no pocket square, just my tag.
(I´ll tell you, the toilets have the greatest view I´ve ever seen)
I guess it is. The ties I posted recently to the tie topic were all cleaned (and that was some cleaning) in tepid water only with soap in it. It worked quite well.
I guess it has something to do with war a later communist prohibition of everything western. I have already noticed that czechoslovakian clothes (including ties) in 1950´s were more than similar to what I see here with 40´s label on it. Not bad for me though :)
edit
Dinerman Cow you say? When I...
It´s terrible, I hate it and it shall be banned
However, is it new? No. I know I saw some 30´s fashion plate with man wearing a blazer with shorts. It´s extremely informal and looks strange, but still it´s a proof.

I can remember...
Unfortunately, they just appear to be. Most of them are made by Hedva, company which was founded in 1949 and the design of the labels also speaks more for late 50´s. The good thing is that most of them really look 30´s, moreover some of them are really short, just as we like them :)
