    Lost in the Neighborhood

There were lots of interesting buildings and faccilities in the part of town I´m from, but nobody remembers them... I have a book abot history of Prague 10 with many pictures from late 1800´s till 1940´s - I´m thinking about scanning the old photos, taking new photos of the same places and...

Give your patriotism a boost here: Share what makes you feel patriotic

Czechs are not patriotic at all, there is no reason, because last 70 years were disaster. However, when I go through the old streets of Prague, or when I hear that some foreigners know something about us (something different from football players, hockey team and beer) I feel kind of proud...

    RAF accidents in 1917

I didn´t know where to put this, but I need to put it somewhere - it´s one of the funniest things I´ve seen in ages - RAF report on accidents during November 1917. (.pdf file) http://virtualskies.net/Accidents1917.pdf I especially like these sentences: "This improvement, no doubt, is the...

during the golden era what was worn at a horse farm

I guess that riding attires like this http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/08bq9NE7Nz2Wu/340x.jpg have absolutely no tradition in the USA :) Nice though...

    What's in your Garage..

Sadly, we have no garage. On the street is one Renault Twingo. But when I move away from the city (I hope very soon), I will have a garage and this must be inside: http://www.auta5p.eu/katalog/skoda/s440_01.jpg (I know, it´s a spam, but it´s a dream as well)

Model aircraft - In the larger scale

Sorry if you´ve already written it, but do you plan to send her to the sky again, or are you just restoring it for static display? Because it would be really pity if it was never to fly again. I know how much work it is, but....

Is the suit relevant in your life?

Steve Jobs is wealthy enough to appear naked on public, it´s not a good example lol Answer to your question - NO, I am not required to wear a suit at all, except one or two occasions a year. Well, why should I wear a suit on college? :) Nobody does, but I´m still trying to do my best...

    first kill of the year

Eat a squirrel? How does it taste? Last time when the squirrels, crows, dogs etc. were eaten here was during the WWII, so I don´t know. And please don´t say that it tastes like chicken, it makes me hate chicken, because nearly everything is compared to them.

    Ondrej Havelka - Swing

Yes, I think I posted these links some time ago... He´s good, but he performs in Prague quite rarely. And when we are talking about new czech jazz and swing, try these: Sestry Havelkovy (Havelka Sisters) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhS2isITzFE&feature=related and the famous Original Prague...

Ever yearn for a vintage name?

My real name´s Joseph, so it´s biblical and I hardly ever meet someone with the same name today. However, I know about lots of older men (like 60 and more) with this name, so I guess it is vintage now. (It made me think about names today, it´s a pity that the parents are now using the same...

What's the Funniest Things to happen to you in vintage?

And why not? Gestapo brings respect, doesn´t it? I love the Herr Flick story, he´s my favourite TV character ever :)

    modern military boots

This may be a little offtopic to your discusion about Corcoran boots, but I have to show off a bit :) I have one pair of these czech/czechoslovakian army boots for terrain use. They are terribly cheap (usually under 50 dollars) and satisfactory quality (I have them three years and they are...

    What are you wearing today??

This photo is remarkable for two reasons - I have new wallpapers and I have new brown cashmere jacket (modern, but cashmere :) ). I combined it with grey pants, as Apparel Arts showed me and it gave surprisingly "working class" look.

Slim, this one looks really like turn of the centuries. Well done, I love it! People who meet you at the office must be shocked.

    1938: Length of Ties

But don´t forget that pants had much hogher waist back then. So even a very short tie could reach the buckle. But what happens when you wear vintage ties with modern pants? People who notice tell you that you have short tie - of course it´s pointless to correct them, it´s better to cover it by a...

NEW WAVE OF NOIR; Doing it how they did it(1920's-1940's).

I made two from a 1917 train ride from the last week, hope they are enough for this thread. (BTW, it was fun, lots of people took photographs of me, they thought that I´m part of the show) One slightly colorized: And one purely B&W:

    Fabrics for Cold Weather Suits?

And what about our dear magnoli clothiers? I don´t think the prices are too high. I´m college student as well and I´m really considering having at least one suit made... They look worth it.

    Today in History

One not vintage, more like ancient, but still important: 935 - Saint Wenceslas is murdered by his brother, Boleslaus I of Bohemia. Which means it´s a state holiday today :)
