A couple more things
This zippy bag filled with state and county fair ribbons (nearly 50 of them) from 1946-1949, for 5 bucks:
And a little Max Factor powder box ($3).
Now that a fresh batch of photos is up on flickr, I'll show a few of my acquisitions:
First, the shoes I mentioned in the 1940s thread. They are comfortable, but a little brittle feeling, so I don't know how wise it is to wear them much.
Next, some shoes I bought for my pleading daughter...
I've been thinking about this topic, especially after reading others' thoughts in the 'aging' thread. Is there a fateful time of life when one awakes and suddenly stocks up on mail-order, doubleknit pantsuits? I don't know, but I hope not.
Having passed 40, I find myself rethinking some...
It's sadly funny how women can't seem to win, isn't it? Men can get fat and bald and old and have relatively few issues with it, while the female of the species is expected to simultaneously be ageless & beautiful, as well as "act her age."
I still associate twitter with phones and texting, which I do minimally (with my pay-as-you-go plan). Now that I understand facebook, it's fine with me. I enjoy the running, random conversations that wander in different directions. I enjoy sharing links to videos and other such things.

Just saw the trailer, and am eager for this one to open in my town. Of course, I'm a sucker for dark, mysterious, classic-based costume dramas.
Has anyone seen it yet?
Oh the shopping sprees we could have with a Way-Back machine. ;)
I got a couple pair of black, basic shoes (though one's a peep-toe lace-up, similar to the Cuban heeled ones shown), when I was lucky enough to have a "your money's no good here" visit to a vintage shop who's elderly owner had...
"Miss Jeannie", inspired by Jeannie, one of the cats up for adoption at Central Oklahoma Humane Society. There will be a reception in a couple weeks, to benefit the Society. Art sales and, hopefully, animal adoptions as well.
If you google 'football homecoming mums' you'll find a lot of info. I never had one myself, but I think the queen wore one, and booster parents would order them and wear them proudly to the game.
It was a tradition when I was in school, 70s, early 80s. But I was in a small town. Maybe old habits linger longer in such places?
My daughter is a senior in high school now, and I've heard nothing about mums, but saying that, her school isn't big into football (I'm not even sure they have...
When I use a light auburn blonde, I don't get Ginger's color, because I don't strip color off my hair but just lay it on top. Mine turns out a deeper, warmer red.
I'm almost tempted by the suit, even though it would certainly be somewhat redefining myself. But I'll keep my eye on it, in the case another lady doesn't snatch it up.
Looking forward to you other offerings.
