You might want to check out the "Vintage" by Stetson at Bencraft. Sovereign, 2 1/2" Brim. I have one in Caribou with a thin, black leather band. Felt is on the thick side. Quality hat! I think it may be a Bencraft exclusive. Looks like they have Bronzine and Black in stock...
Beautiful boots!
Just thought I'd post that I bought a pair of shoes from bl@ster not too long ago and they came exactly as advertised. In fact, I'd try and buy these if I didn't know for certain that I wear a 10.5 in Whites (which, Grayland, I find to run pretty true to size).
x2 Art. Thanks.
In my case, it's a dark staining on the straw, possibly from the leather bleeding color a bit. Wouldn't be visible if it wasn't a thin ribbon.
I bought a silverbelly around when this hat was first released. Slightly too low of a crown, sure, but liked it enough! Then one day I was wearing it and it started raining a bit. Now the hat needs a reblock. A pulpy mess, it is. No more modern Stetsons for me.
There is no red tone in Regency Fawn. At all. I have a Sydney and Angler, both in Regency Fawn and purchased from David Morgan. Definitely an olive color.
Monbla, maybe you're confusing colors? Would be easy to do with Akubra and all the different ____ Fawn names they have.
I have a Sydney in regency fawn. It's a muted brownish green. If people described it as olive or loden I wouldn't say they're wrong. It's a distinctly different color than Mid-Brown, which is darker in tone and richer in hue.
Sounds like a great project! Good luck with it!
I was in Santa Fe a few months back and stumbled upon the O'Farrell Hat shop. After poking around and looking at all the hats (predominantly westerns) the salesperson plopped a similar device on my head and then put my shape on file, should I...
Another whiskey, bartender!
I received my new VS over the weekend - thanks again, Art!
Snapped a few pics in studio this morning before getting into actual work.
Whiskey, 2 5/8" brim w/ underwelt, 12 ligne brown ribbon.
It's a neutral/slightly blue grey.
No Silverbelly in the shot, but scroll down, Chuck Bobuck's pics are a pretty good representation - http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?41496-Akubra-colour-comparison-needed
The Moose River is pre-creased identically to the modern Stratoliner. The Strat's bound brim is 2 1/2" where as the Moose River is 2 3/8" and a raw edge. That and the ribbon treatment are the only differences.
Lefty,
I have a pair of Bounty Hunter's from Baker's. Love 'em. About 2yrs old. Dress brown, no cap, lined, rolled top, loops (one did start to tear before I stopped using them). Vibram mini lug sole. Great boots - I wear them practically everyday through Fall-Winter-Early Spring. I've...
Beautiful hat, Jbucklin (and Art)!
I'm in line and 95% sure to be going Whiskey. Thanks for the indirect affirmation! Must stop reading this thread now so the Dove urge subsides - at least for awhile.
