New Pecan VS arrived yesterday. 2.5" underwelt. Here's a couple of kinda silly noggin shots. I'll try and post some more that are color correct later on today - but color-wise, it's pretty close to the Po Bob.
Lovin' it! Thanks, Art!
I bought a straw from Oscar over the summer. As far as furs go, he was selling mostly Selentino last time I was in. Shame to see him close up.
There's another hat shop on South St. around 5th that sells some stingy Stetsons. That's about it for the area. LL Bean in Marlton, NJ actually...
I'm lurking but can guarantee that it's too rich for me...
Would love to have this hat, especially since it was sold from a store so close to where I grew up. My father in law wore hats and aside from time in the Air Force during WWII and Korea has spent his entire life in West Chester, PA -...
I a little ashamed to admit I handed over the loot for the No. 16 Forestry Cloth Cruiser that's currently being offered - but I don't regret it! Lightweight, warm, breathable, fabric seems tough, and a closer cut than the Mack Cruiser. True three season jacket. I'll be wearing this thing for...
Thanks, mayserwegener, no paper label that I found but I didn't do a full inspection - as I was about to I heard a ruckus outside. Had to immediately go rescue the 2.5 year old from the 5 year old. There was some kind of pattern or oversized script on the inside of the sweat.
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can date this hat and tell me if it's silk or beaver (not like any beaver hat I've ever handled) or anything else. I don't know anything about top hats. This was shown to me by an antique collector over the weekend - she didn't seem to know very much about it...
On my hat it says it on the white tag in the back of the hat at the sweatband. Says 'Padua" and then lists the name of the color in German and a few other languages, I think. The measurements I'm just guessing from looking at it.
What hat did you get?
Funny you should bring this up, though. I was in Boston earlier this week and stopped at Salmagundi - ended up buying a steel grey Mayser Padua. Seems like a decent hat and comparable to the imperial quality Akubra's I have. We'll see how it holds up in the elements...
2 1/2" brim. Bought at Bencraft about two years ago. It's a Sovereign - I suspect it's the same body as the discontinued Nostalgia with a different ribbon. In this case its a thin leather band with a small, brass colored medallion for the accent. Thicker felt, very substantial with a nice...
Dav, wonderful jacket! I like the tough, casual and relatively simple look. I've been waiting and hoping to see this since you posted about the order a few months ago. Nice choices.
I just wish you'd received it in September so I could have put my order in before the price increase...
Just wanted to say again to count me in even though I'm listed in the first post. Haven't seen moonstone in person. I own a Glen Grey, though, and would love to have a lighter shade of grey CD.
I have five CD's and trimmed them all to 2 5/8". Admittedly, it's risky business with fabric...

Above link is just for visual reference.
I've worn them around 10 days so they're breaking in. I like them quite a bit - just should have bought a size 11 instead.
Minimal markings, zero tread wear - all in all very clean and practically new.
$150...
