Last night I watched "Inherit the Wind", and then part of "Sunset Boulevard." I'd like to have watched it all the way through, but needed to get some sleep. It's okay though; having seen it several times, I could lay in bed and play the ending in my head. ;)
This thread is always a delight to catch up on.
Here are a couple shots of some kitties at Christmas. First, Miss Blue looking a touch demented in a gift box.
Here, Miss Blue and The Sidler help Sara admire her brand new ice skating boots:
I can easily see the Patty Dukeism. Even less Golden Age would be Tracy Ullman.
I don't think I have much resemblance to anyone other than myself, but it's amazing and fun to see all these other FLers carrying on classic gene pools. :)
My Diesel shoes came yesterday. I knew they'd been shipped and was a little disappointed they didn't arrive Saturday, thinking I'd have to wait till today at least. (Didn't realize they were coming via FedEx.) What a sweet surprise to get a package on a no-mail day!
Coincidentally, we had...
For several years I've admired this young artist and her whimsical style. Her partner makes the pottery and she decorates it. Last year we took the plunge and purchased a small vase at one of her exhibitions. Here are three of the four delightful illustrations on it:
The artist...
It's sure fun to peek at what's on everyone's walls. :) My house seems to have more art than wall space, so some things are not 'properly' displayed. Still, I'm lucky to have a number of pieces by local and regional artists so I'm just happy they're here.
I'll share in batches, to make it...
Funny you should ask that, Lady Day; I just asked my husband's opinion (as we sit here watching "Miracle in the Rain", a set-in-the-40s romanto-drama) and he said no to both dresses. A more adamant no to number one, but number two didn't convince him either.
Being no expert at all, whatsoever, I'll just say my instant instinct was for the second dress. To me it has a much more immediate retro vibe, whereas the first one could easily wander the decades, even up to the 80s.
Thanks ladies, I appreciate the encouragement. :) I tried again and got wider, deeper waves, though not quite as head-inclusive as kamikat's. Naturally our cold dry weather chose yesterday to give way to fog, mist, and drizzle, so that set was short-lived.
I wonder if you can get a marcel...
Ooh, retail therapy indeed. That fashion book is a delight, to say the least, and those Etsy dresses - drool.
I've already ordered the Diesel spectator pumps from Amazon, thanks to the shoe thread. Talk about a place full of enabling......
I figured it! (Though I didn't expect the pictures to be so big.)
My summer pixie cut has finally grown out enough to play with, and the layers have evened up somewhat, so I tried a 20s finger wave using duckbill clips. At bedtime, I put in a few bobby pins in hopes of saving the shape, as...
Using the 'little mountain box' always works with my flickr photos, but I don't want to fill flickr with pics of myself to be sharing here, so I've just started a photobucket to use.
It doesn't seem to be working the same way, but I'll keep experimenting....
I'll try the [IMG] thing and...
Darn it. I wanted to share my first feeble attempt at finger waves, but photobucket isn't working like flickr. Can one of you wise ladies tell me why putting 'properties' in the image box only puts a link in my message rather than the photo itself?
Don't forget the Salvation Army. They're up to their necks in it too.
I think the previous post was about Cladrite, who was donating a portion of his proceeds to the cause. If you're on face book, he's posted something about it there as well.
It's funny that just yesterday my husband was waxing nostalgic about his Welsh granddad saying "five and twenty past". I'm not sure I ever heard that exact terminology during my US childhood.
