    Allen Edmonds:How many??

Just to dredge up an old thread... I just got my first pair! Fifth-Avenues.

Need to fix slight scuff on shoes

Emory paper is the more correct term... 2000 grit, that I use for honing razors, and is also used as part of automotive paint prep. just to get it evenly scuffed (you cannot feel the imperfection, only see it) I forgot to post a picture earlier, this is what I'm dealing with.

Need to fix slight scuff on shoes

I don't know any local/good cobblers, or even how I would go about looking for them... I like the backside of the brush idea, I might give that a try before trying the sandpaper route.

Need to fix slight scuff on shoes

I work as a test engineer (read: I occasionally do hands-on work) and recently scuffed the toe on my newest dress shoes... I tried to just polish it out, but of course the polish stuck better in the scuffed area, so it shows up pretty well. Any ideas on how to correct this? The shoes had a...

    Shoe question, half rubber heel

Suicide heel... I like it! But still.... why would anyone design/make a shoe like that? I love the style of these shoes, but I won't be buying anymore suicide heel shoes... unless of course I really like them, and they're a really good deal.

    Another fountain pen question

Does anyone have experience with Swisher pens? They seem to have the Parker $12 cheaper than FP hospital http://store.swisherpens.com/parker-im-premium-shiny-chrome-chiselled-fountain-pen-p4814.aspx?utm_medium=cse&utm_source=googlebase

Is time running out for the wristwatch? BBC Wonders...

Personally as a relative "youngster" (at 25) I'm a certified watch nut. My preferred watch is an Omega Speedmaster that was my college graduation gift to myself, though it's been out for service since July (went back to Omega and they seem to be taking their time). My first proper mechanical...

    Shoe horn recommendation

I ended up ordering a buffalo horn one from this place as recommended by someone on SRP http://www.handicraft-vn.com/shop/shoe-lifts-18cm-long-flat-handcrafted-black-buffalo-horn-p-865.html?cPath=148_147

    Another fountain pen question

No idea. I have the Lamy Logo and Phileas, but no experience with the others. Of the ones I've seen this is the one I'd most like to get for myself though. My dad, for years, carried a Parker sterling silver ball point pen that my grandfather (his father in law) got him, I believe as a...

    Another fountain pen question

I'm getting married soon, and decided to get fountain pens for my groomsmen, as this is an accessory I don't think any man should be without. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good "starter" pen (as far as I know none of them have, or have used, a fountain pen before), for under...

    Shoe horn recommendation

Ok, I need a suggestion here.. I bought this a while back http://www.onthefly.com/product/kirby-allisons-hanger-project/kirby-allisons-hanger-project-mortimer-shoe-horn/25950 It was beautiful and worked well. That is until this week I didn't pull the laces out enough on some boots, and...

    Affordable, fitted, french cuff shirts.

I always iron the cuffs flat, with no creases, then fold them over for wearing.

    Lifetime Shoes

But my thing was that my "old" 9.5D shoes still fit perfect, just like when they were new (only better since they're more broken in). So it doesn't seem like my foot has changed, just that all the new shoes I try on don't fit in 9.5. It's just weird. I have some 9.5 D "Pronto Uomo" (Men's...

    Lifetime Shoes

I'm wondering if shoe sizing has changed in the last few years... I used to reliably be a 9.5D... And my shoes that I bought then still fit great, but when I try on shoes these days 9.5 is almost always too long, and D is almost always too narrow. I'm finding mostly that I'm 8.5E in newer shoes.

    Lifetime Shoes

Thanks for the feedback. Alden is still out of my price range, though I do see some stores that are relatively local. Perhaps I could try a pair compared to Allen Edmonds. Right now I'm leaning toward the 5th Ave http://www.shermanbrothers.com/product.php?ItemId=7293&ProductId=12618...

    Lifetime Shoes

Yes, this is why I'm looking to avoid mail order. I tried on some AE shoes that fit quite well. I have short, wide feet, which automatically eliminates many brands that do not offer wide widths.

    Lifetime Shoes

That link doesn't seem to work for me, but parts of the AE website weren't working for me yesterday. I think a savings of $100 would still be nothing to sneeze at if they're comparable. I might go to the J&M store locally though just to have a look. Nowhere around here sells AE as far as I...

    Lifetime Shoes

So $450 J&M shoes are comparable to $250 AE shoes? Sounds like I'll go with AE!

How are Johnston and Murphy? http://www.johnstonmurphy.com/product.aspx?c=1215&color=Black&width=W&pid=22178 Those look decent, but it doesn't say where they're made etc. How would they compare to AE?
