New Optimo (back form self imposed banishment)

It is a 7 1/2 (60) I'm learning that i have a bit of a big head (no pun intended though probably deserved) but hats in my size don't come up too often. The fact that it was an Optimo as lovely as this one. well. I'll find away to cover my spending tracks from my significant other. :eusa_doh:

What's the most interesting thing you learned on the Lounge?

Shoot i'm lucky to have a yard where i live, but working in the city i don't think there is enough unpaved land to make a faerie dot.

What's the most interesting thing you learned on the Lounge?

"" Griffer t reminds me of the biology behind the 'fairy ring'. The ring starts as a robust mushroom colony, buts as it spreads in size, the original founding mushrooms in the center have already gotten all the nutrients in the center and are choked out by the new growth. The center...

The life cycle of an internet forum.

I was actually a member of the MaximumPC’s (Formally Boot Magazine) discussion forums on Delphi. They were often ranked in Delphi’s top 5 boards. Back then I was a very active member and was even invited into the PC “Privet Club” at one point. Eventually Maximum PC abandoned the...

The life cycle of an internet forum.

Mighty insightful Andy. I’m sure you understand that everyone is here because of a common passion. Just as in life not everyone will get along. The majority will be conservative and others may be a bit more radical. The point is the forum brings people from all over with different backgrounds...

The life cycle of an internet forum.

Maybe it will serve as a reminder to those leaving that they aren’t just leaving the FL to its own devices. And are infect aiding in its possible failure. I hate to see knowledgeable and helpful members leave any community. Especially when they are instrumental in its sucess

The life cycle of an internet forum.

Very true though I have seen similar patterns since my Prodigy and CompuServe days. Take Delphi for example. It is a great example of a community that was a victim of its own success. People from my neck of the woods may remember when BMUG (The Bay Area Mac User Group) was king of communities...

The life cycle of an internet forum.

I have read this in a news group years ago but I believe it applies to forums too. Tell me if this rings true for you. All forums have a sort of life cycle: 1) in the beginning a forum may never get enough knowledgeable contributing members to ever achieve any value. They say the average is 1...

    What shirt for this suit?

In reality I am very conservative. I rarely deviate from my every ay attire of jeans and a t-shirt. And those are always basic blues, Grays and Blacks. And when I dress up I would rather where a grey or black suit then try something as daring as navy ;) The avatar as you might have...

    Where are you going tonight

Sadly I’ll be going nowhere. Literally. I have another late night in the office. My work is dependent on others so I have a lot of idle time between projects (hence my use of the FL) It may be the same story tomorrow. Out company party is tomorrow night and I may have to miss it. A...
