    It's kind of hard to tell but the Optimo I just got is black but the ribbon and bound edge are a navy color. You really can't see this with artificial lighting, but once it's out side.... WOW. the navy really pops. On the other hand I often like to ware my black Stetson with a blue/green hat...

    I like the look of a raw edge. i can't tell you any hirsory or functionality of the binding. but when it comes to looks something about the raw edge looks best on a typical fedora. Though i think a binding looks better or i asume is necessary on some hats . A homburg or durby for example.

    when i did my joker costume i had my hair dyed. and all i can sy is my hair was like straw until it grew out. i can't imagine it would be an better for a fur hat of any kind.
