    Do You Dress For Dinner?

I don't really differentiate between what's 'proper' for afternoon or evening, and my lifestyle has a lot to do with that. I don't work right now but I do go to school, so things like shopping get done when they get done - maybe in the morning or afternoon but maybe at 7pm. Groceries don't...

Those look like relatively advanced patterns for a new sewer! Start learning as soon as you can and work your way up before trying to tackle them - pillowcase or lounge pants, an apron, a skirt, then a few other projects before starting on dresses with set in sleeves, plackets, collars.. good luck!

Annie, the US may be bigger but we don't all have luck! I've never found anything good at a thrift store. Just like the UK it depends where you live and whether or not there's a vintage seller buying up everything before you find it.

Amaranta - I can't PM you this information as you don't have enough posts yet, so here is how to upload a pic. Find the file on your computer you want to upload (know if it's on your desktop or which folder it's in, etc.) Go to a site like photobucket.com, tinypic.com, or flickr.com. (You...

kerry, I vote for the S&S pattern too. I like them all, especially the last dress, but I think the first would be the most fun to wear to a wedding and dance in.

    Seersucker Skirt Suit Struggle

Hailey, about the blouse/jacket Miss Sis suggested, I immediately thought of: (on the right) It's earlier than you're going for but just as an example - I'm planning on using it as a jacket/blouse (plus matching skirt). I have a light plaid cotton I'm going to use and I could wear it all...

    Seersucker Skirt Suit Struggle

I'm sure once it's made up and is outfitted with all the details you like and fits you beautifully only like a handmade garment can, nothing you pair with it could be boring! You chose the green and cream for a reason, so if you like it, use it! I think lavendar and white sound good, you could...

I loved them too but because of that style (being a part of the bodice) it's also puffy around the bust and shoulders. Thanks foofoo!

I have a lot to share! :) In preparation for my move I've been trying to hammer out most of my "to sew" list. I'll come back in the morning and add pattern info if anyone is interested. Being worn - Just waiting on a button and buckle set from Etsy! Made with the 30s skirt...
