Kari,
yeah, I know what you mean... I'm a DD too, with rather wide "baby birthin" hips, and a small waist. I have a really curvy, hourglass figure... and what I find is that a lot of the dresses will either fit my waist and hips, but not my top... or my top and waist but not my hips. I have the...
Last night the beau came back from his WWII event, and we went out to Glen Echo to dance. Sorry for the blurry picture, but the picture taker was in a hurry.
For anyone in the mid atlantic that hasnt been to Glen Echo... that place is awesome!! I'd like to go out there durring the day...

I've read a lot of Glassie for classes... Thats a good book. I'm currently reading "Common Places: Readings in American Vernacular Architecture." Its a compliation of articles by various folks, including Glassie. Its actually dedicated to Glassie, too. Its Edited by Dell Upton and John Vlach...
thanks ladies! :) I need some encouragement, my mom thinks I'm insane and wishes that she had a slightly more normal daughter. I just recently mastered a couple 40's updo's and my mom says "you're not going out in public like that are you?
anyway, the curtains go pretty well in...
Ok, dont laugh, they're just curtains. However, this is the first thing I've ever sewn on the sewing machine, so I'm excited about it. I'm an idiot, and I measured wrong and they turned out short, but who cares... I sewed!
I found the fabric a few years ago and thought it was cute and vintage...

Here I was complaining about not being able to find any clothes/shoes that fit, and I lost these, in my size, because I was out to dinner with my mom and dad :(

I just keep on seeing familiar sites:

Warrenton is only a 30 minute drive from where I grew up, and where the local community college I attended for a couple years was. The frost diner is still there, and they still...
I was just looking through the collection of restaurant postcards and said, "hey I think I know that place..." The circle restaurant in King George, Virginia... Its now called "Bowies" and it's on the way out to where I work. I stopped there once out of curiosity and had a hot roast beef...
I liked Edinburgh, it was just too big for me... I liked the smaller cities that seemed to capture the spirit of the people more than Edinburgh did. Strange, I know.
Plus the new parliament building is ugly.

I thought it was wonderful even when it was raining... but it was beautiful when the sun came out. :) I did see cathedrals when I was there. One thing that I found interesting was that if some of the buildings had been made of brick and not granite, it would almost be like being in Virginia...
Hi there!!
I absolutely adored Scotland! I had a wonderful time... I've considered going back for a much lengthier stay (maybe for school, I dont know yet) because I loved it so much. However, it seems that through the research I've done its really hard for Americans to just move to the UK...
Hey there! are you going to SCAD? I'm considering going there for my masters in Historic Preservation! I've considered coming down for one of their open houses... I keep getting stuff in the mail and I'm tempted.

My passion is history... always has been. I was a history major for a while until I realized that I could read all I wanted about history any time, but what was more important to me was the preservation of that history, so I switched schools and switched majors to historic preservation...

Vernacular Architeture is a tricky term... I'll try to simplify it the best I can, even though its many things... Vernacular Architecture is architecture without a formal style... something that perhaps wasnt designed by an architect... like for instance, a midwestern farm house. It can be a...
