So I'm rebuilding this hat as a project. I posted it over on Club Obi Wan for the Indy gearheads to try to guess.
Thought I'd give the experts a crack at it.
Any takers? Winner gets a round on me!
(And that is my new vintage tie I just picked up the day HJ stole the borsalino hat from...
Here's a interesting little article in todays paper.
Anxious, coddled, uncurious George
I guess we didn't know how good we had it back then!
Enjoy

Gee, a shot in the dark, no. It is Charlie Chaplin.
Photographed in 1935.
And is part of the New York World-Telegram and the Sun Newspaper Photograph Collection.
Do i get extra points?
Dang, I just noticed Maj.Nick Danger beat me to it.
Horrible looking. Brim is too small. Color is too dark. Ribbon is too wide.
You paid too much....
You should just return it and get your money back! :D
Well, those little strings are nice and all, but I've been working on something a bit more permanent that would really withstand the winds we had last week!
Now, if I can only find a volunteer...
Do several boxes in thebasement count? Guilty as charged.
I'm house hunting as we speak and one of the prerequisites is a good spread out space where I can reassemble my layout.
Well, the 4449 was one of the trains the organization helped restore.
The SP700 is now there big project.
Bot hare owned by the city, and maintained by a group of volkunteers.
Both trains do make special runs every so often.
This is the groups page that maintains it...
Wild Root,
Is that the 4449 that the City of Portland, OR owns?
A friend of mine works on the team that maintains the restoration of it and
the SP 700.
It was always fun to be driving into work and seeing them chugging down the tracks.
Photo wise, I think the site is better then my favorite NewYork Central archives. It seems to lack any historical data, but the photos are great.
Makes me want to get my trains set up again.
(I currently lack the space, in case you're wondering.)

Came across an interesting little article in todays Globe.
Dark Art: What makes a Film "Noir"?
I believe its an except from the authors new book.
(I can't guarantee how long the article will be live on the site.)

Let me when he'll be there, I'll make the 3 hour drive to check it out!
Hey HJ, you up for a little road trip?
It'd be great if a company like Stetson could go back to their roots and make some decent quality dress hats again.
Well, sorry minus_273,
but it looks like we've pretty much derailed this thread!
We should definately plan something. Just say when and where.
I'm game.
Heck, I'll even do a Mt Washington, Lake in the Crowds weekend.
Haven't done that in a few years!
Maybe we should start a new...
Nah, I never got over there. My daughter wanted to play in the snow...
But next week!
And minus_273, if your red sox cap is a fitted size, it should be just about right. For the price, the official hats are actually realistic sizes.
Keep in mind, however, that not all hats are created...
Hey minus_273,
I am also in the Boston area. Like HJ said, stay away from Toppers.
You can actually get the same hats with better deals on the internet.
I haven't shopped Aarons yet, but if you ski, I believe his shop is up in the Conway area.
(oops, just like HJ said...)
