A little additional information: after cleaning, the brown and blue were also reflanged on a vintage flange that was stamped Stratoliner... so the brim curl is proper for the hat.
(The blue-grey was basically NOS, didn't need anything except a brushing.)

Yes, the brown one has a tip sticker and no liner. Before WWII.
If a serious buyer asks for more pictures, I'll take them. Good pictures take a while.
As an added incentive... if you buy more than one, I'll give you a deal.

The thin felt is a feature, not a reason to avoid it. In fact, my vintage Borsolino, the felt is even thinner.
As for the lining coming out, if these are hats that "people are trying on" and getting their fingers all over, then it's not surprising. They're not in there very tight. In the old...
Indeed, and I get really upset and angry when collectors tell people like me, who appreciate the old stuff but don't feel the same way about it, that the new stuff is crap. It's not crap. May not be what you like, but it's completely wearable, which is the damned point... wearing a hat and...
Not sure of which one you meant, but anyways, I should have said "that I want", because I think the new hats are perfectly fine. It's not the fault of the hat-maker that the felt they have can't be gotten any more, which is what I keep hearing. I've also standardized on a thin ribbon, most of...
Me, on the other hand, I've been burned too many times by vintage hats that didn't look like they did at the auction, or looked completely different after a cleaning.
The new hats I've bought have been perfectly acceptable, look good, feel good on the head, and if it was open crown, I can...

Cadet Blue, post-war. Recently cleaned and reblocked. Original sweat and liner. Very rare...
Yes, same company:

You and I might be different... but I couldn't wear it above -10C because it was so warm. The rabbit I can wear below 0C without getting cooked.
That mouton is very very warm to wear.

I had one of those, a fabulous hat. I had to give it to my sister because it was too warm! I was feeling like my head was getting cooked. I got the rabbit-fur version instead and it's not quite so warm.

Stetson Silver Belly
On the left, a 4X Open Road with the powder vacuumed off and reshaped as a fedora. In the middle, the Premier Stratoliner just received. On the right, a not-premier Stratoliner, with the usual powder.
The felt is a little better on the Premier Stratoliner compared to the...
These last few posts are a good illustration of my point. People don't have the same criteria as to what makes a "good hat". A new hat or a NOS vintage hat is what it is and is costs a lot, comparatively speaking. In fact, a decent hat costs about the same as a good pair of shoes. Not that we...
Do you want more stiffness or less? The two Premier Stratoliners I have now, they come soft and when you hit them with the steam, they get stiff. (That sounds dirty but it's not.)
I like this because it will hold the shape you put into it but isn't so stiff it can't take a knock or two without...
