    Trouser fabric question...

Chinos may not even be drill/twill- I've seen plain weave khakis sold as "Chinos". The terms- drill and twill are often used interchangeably but that doesn't make it right. B T

    Retro-extremists? What are we called?

I believe "Atavist" is better branding- a slightly obscure, lesser known term for a slightly obscure group. -"reversion to an earlier type; throwback." -"The return of a trait or recurrence of previous behavior after a period of absence." No need to take the biological angle literally-...

    1950s Grenfell Cloth shooting/hiking jacket

This jacket's RiRi has metal slider/puller/stop box- all the rest is plastic, track/"male end"... But it's not a Grenfell jacket AFAIK. I'm a big Denison smock fan. Some of the Belgian smocks are very close, in construction and camo pattern. There is quite a variety. B T

    Retro-extremists? What are we called?

I get what you mean. But the wearing of used clothing does seem to creep some people out. I was thinking of the -wearing- "issue", as just one potential, kooky, negative aspect. Do these need to be defended/justified/etc. B T

Windward jackets by Montgomery Ward (and copies)

Good guess, eh? I was just looking at how very wide the back panel seems to be- which lead me to wonder- as we dont really have any idea of scale. It's amazing how small size jackets look so different to larger sizes. Proportions seem to change. B T

    Retro-extremists? What are we called?

Is the wearing of used clothing, hats and shoes an issue which needs defending, justifying, or explaining? That's probably one of the things that makes vintage lifestylers seem kOOky. B T

    1950s Grenfell Cloth shooting/hiking jacket

Yes, I know the Swiss connection, just had to say it. Nylon zips since 1950, eh..? RiRi were making "plastic" zips- track/teeth/puller/slider during WW2. Maybe it wasn't nylon it's "catalin", or a similar name. The style is almost identical to zips they make today. These plastic RiRi zips...

    1950s Grenfell Cloth shooting/hiking jacket

It's a little similar to an M-421 and some other military jackets but it is not a military jacket. Canadian manufacture, as you saw. It's not a WW2 era garment. M-421s are a little more complicated in construction, including the half belt you mentioned. I had one and I do remember it was a...
