An investment like that's gotta make you smile. Looks like a peach of a hat, and fits your proportions, imo. My Boot Barn straw is an imitation of a hat :).
Laugh if you must, but I'm done buying for the interim. I got 3 coming and my addiction is sated. I think it took 3 tries to reach the best maker, and felt and trim color combo. I not only got my feet wet, but I jumped all the way in. The maker said 2 to 3 months I recall, so it will be a while...
I almost went with a smokey lavender trim for the binding, but I didn't have 'true grit', as they say. I'm really excited to see and handle this 50X Emerald Gray felt.
Hufvud is all over my radar since I've been catching up on a few threads, so I ordered a 50X Bogie. The crown is the standard 4 3/4". Brim will be 2 7/8", not the normal 2 3/8". Sudan Brown binding, 6mm. The ribbon is a 1" Charcoal. So will look similar to this but with a thinner ribbon instead...
I shouldn't have said "we". I speak for myself only. Also, I believe Irish linen is a little heavier and would be something I would look at before deciding on anything linen, which is prone to wrinkle badly. I now see by the pants you mentioned that you are going for cool and casual. By all...
I like the idea of olive shirt w a collar. Also, a Greek-based Hatter we mostly recommend could whip you up a piece you could wear forever. Might not get done that quickly.
Yes. It is amazing that the condition of so many old hats is this great. If that hat was turned into a work hat or was thrown away by the owner's kids, it would not be here for us to wear and enjoy. I'm sure you'll put that in your rotation and get good use out of it. It is a nice, casual color...
Yeah the Red Label is a slim hybrid I recall. The other offerings may give you a choice of slim or classic. The Neo cut suits are intriguing to me with wider lapels, open quarters in the front, and soft shoulders. Neo being Naples, Italy style I guess.
They dont look that bad to me. I'm used water stains on my boots in the snowy seasons... adds character. Items on the ground tend to wear out and get weathered more rapidly. If they were mine I might take a damp rag after them and polish a little bit later, but that's a risk u may not take.
Yes it is a great feeling to wear a quality garment with fabric and details you rarely come across. I BIN'd this Navy beauty not long ago. Just love it.
