Yeah, I had quite a bit of back and forth quickly recently about a custom order. I asked a follow-up last Friday and haven't heard back.
Did they ever respond?

Stock prices you can see on the website, around 850 these days, specialty hides usually up the price by 300-400 USD, minor modifications to their existing patterns come cheap, full custom designs cost more. They are very helpful and forwarding to their customers, they did stuff included in standard price for me in the past that other makers charge for, hefty too. They are great people really, especially Alan. love the man.
Lead time depends on what you want and how busy they are, dont think I ever waited more than 4 months..
There is nothing mysterious about them. They make leather jackets, it isn't rocket science. Just email them and tell them what you are looking for.
Yup, they did. But in my case, I ended up returning the jacket I posted about in another thread, because they agreed the bunching in the back was due to the hem being too narrow for me. They offered to refund, but I asked them if it would be possible to start a custom order and consider the amount already paid as advance payment, and they agreed.This.. .... Did they ever respond and did you get a coustom order?
I emailed them about a few questions and they were quick to respond. But the moment I ask them how to start a custom order, they went silent.
How long did it take for them to respond?Yup, they did. Pretty quick. Within a couple of days. How long did it take for them to respond?
Anyone with bad experience with Johnsons? Still havent responded to my original emails after 1 week? I sent them a question with different email and the response was kinda quick. Some red flags.
I did.. They said to email them, everything is done via email they said.Bro, call them. There are no red flags. They’re a small busy shop.
Maybe look elsewhere.Anyone with bad experience with Johnsons? (Can DM me in private) Still havent responded to my original emails after 1 week? I sent them a question with different email and the response was kinda quick. Some red flags.
To add to the question. How about their type I. I'm thinking of ordering. I was told that rugged west makes a very high quality type I. Any comments?Anyone have experience with their type ii style jackets? Any pictures or words would be appreciated.
No clue about RW. I know the owner, when starting out, came here looking for feedback/hype from the members. Looking at the RW site it looks like they've fancied things up a bit, with prices to match. I think I'd prefer to go with Johnson at this price point. RW also obfuscates the country of origin on their site which doesn't sit right with me. If I recall correctly it's Pakistan, which I have no qualms with, but I dislike the practice of not explicitly stating where things are made, especially when positioning yourself as a premium product. Again, no issue with Pakistan-made jackets (I have two in my closet at this time). To add to the question. How about their type I. I'm thinking of ordering. Yeah, I'll go with Johnson. I have had three jackets made by them and they're all absolutely great. I saw the RW site, pretty slick, but I don't know anybody who has a jacket from them. Johnson is safe bet. Always great service and results. No clue about RW. I know the owner, when starting out, came here looking for feedback/hype from the members. The deal with Johnson is they are still primarily set up as an in person location and don't have a huge made to order demand, such as Aero or other more popular brands. I live about an hour and a half from them and the few times I've been by, I've seen the same faces and they're mostly people that have worked there for many years/decades. The best bet is to call them during business hours, as was stated in another reply. I'm playing to go there within the next couple weeks, so if you want pictures of something, let me know and I can send them to you. It would be great if they had a dedicated online person and a more robust ordering system, as their quality and in person service really is quite good, especially considering their prices.Anyone with bad experience with Johnsons? You have to call them. They are very good with making what you want. John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. Here's what mine looks after 2 1/2 years. I don't know how it compares to RW but I'm not sure how they could improve on it.To add to the question. How about their type I. I'm thinking of ordering.
