Jl type 2 in Horween
Yeah! that looks really good. The only change I'd make is that I will opt for buttons instead of snaps. What hide did you go with? Here's what mine looks after 2 1/2 years. I don't know how it compares to RW but I'm not sure how they could improve on it.

The thing about Johnson is they aren't really a retail maker. They are an OEM who supplies both expensive specialty shops around the world and practical contracts for police departments and racers.Anyone with bad experience with Johnsons? (Can DM me in private) Still havent responded to my original emails after 1 week? I sent them a question with different email and the response was kinda quick. Some red flags.
Actually in fairness it was me who made the RW thread and ended up causing the whole RW trend on TFL lol. Ironically I haven't bought any of their jackets. No clue about RW. I know the owner, when starting out, came here looking for feedback/hype from the members.
Looks incredible after two years! I think I saw this jacket on their IG page. Beautiful! Is this their phantom horsehide? Here's what mine looks after 2 1/2 years. I don't know how it compares to RW but I'm not sure how they could improve on it.

That’s certainly an interesting piece of information…took on a life of its own.The thing about Johnson is they aren't really a retail maker. They are an OEM who supplies both expensive specialty shops around the world and practical contracts for police departments and racers.
This experience means they can make anything and do it well. The flip side is they are tiny and busy so they don't have a team of support staff. It's all the same few guys.

I just saw them pop up on social and recognized the owner as an inactive TFL member so I made a thread saying it looks like one of our MIA members started a jacket brand haha.
I got this jacket from them a few weeks ago: https://johnsonleather.com/products/type-ii-chestnut-horween-vermont-horsehide. It’s my favourite leather jacket! The chestnut colour is lovely, the pattern is comfortable and looks good, and the lining feels luxurious.Anyone have experience with their type ii style jackets? Any pictures or words would be appreciated.

Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. This experience means they can make anything and do it well.

I had buttons in mind has well but ended up with snaps due to a misunderstanding (on my end).Yeah! that looks really good. The only change I'd make is that I will opt for buttons instead of snaps. What hide did you go with?
I would love something like this in black. Here are some shabby pics. The second one was taken the day I got the jacket, I think.

My two cents- For someone who wears jackets open most of the time, the buttons may be worth it. Personally, weather that warrants more than two or three buttons being closed and I find the whole process too fiddly and reach for my snap or zippered jackets more. There's something I find satisfying about pulling the jacket open and feeling/hearing the snaps popping, too hahaha.Anyone have advice on snap vs donut buttons for a type II jacket? I feel like going donut for the classic look but I'm not sure if I'm overlooking some benefits of snap buttons.
It only took my type 2 some days before buttoning became easy. I have the new donut buttons on mine. Granted, my jacket is thinner at 0.95 mm of Horween Vermont horsehide.Anyone have advice on snap vs donut buttons for a type II jacket? I have a Johnson made cossack inspired CXL HH ~3.2oz with buttons and the only button I haven't been able to button so far, except a couple of times after considerable struggle, is the top one.It only took my type 2 some days before buttoning became easy.
