Don't get me wrong! I don't really know the brand, just tried to give it an explanation to the jacket being available for three years. I agree that fashion is cyclical, so things constantly go in and out of it.
I was just speaking more broadly to see if you agree with the idea of a "macro-trend" here.

Usually, these fundamental shifts in menswear proportions last about 10 to 15 years. Since the 2000s and 2010s were completely dominated by slim, almost tight-fitting clothes, do you think this current move toward boxy cuts is a long-term correction to that era, rather than just a quick fad?

I thought it was both a quick fad and an overcorrection of the slim fitting trend, but I thought the fashion world would had long moved on by now. I'm partial to a slim fit, so I looked trendy 5-10 years ago but not anymore, I guess.

I do see now some sort of trend of wearing very oversized pants combined with very tight fitting tshirts, which I honestly just find weird.

Wow! beautiful jacket! Never seen it in on used market in UE though:(
I recently saw one in a size 40 or so, but yes they are rare. Ordering from Vanson overseas is not that big of a hustle though, I ordered from them repeatedly in the past 3 years. They use UPS and jackets usually arrive within a week on your doorstep and you pay all the taxes etc directly to UPS, so no hustle with the customs offices either…

Here's from the WJAYWT thread :D It's been no less the 28ºC the last month during the day, I barely recall what's wearing a jacket o_O

You guys are right, I decided against buying the jacket. It hurts just a little ;)) I'm in no man's land looking for a more boxy fit than a classic moto jacket (in some pics the Mercury looks like it), but still something well-made and elegant. Probably a custom Aero in some leather other than Chromexcel would be the answer (I would just ask for broader shoulders and more room in the chest while cropped at the bottom, with a larger collar) but those prices are above my paygrade

While I don't get the styling of this jacket, the flared/open sleeves are what kind of ruin it for me, and I find the TikTok influencer style of marketing vexing, having spent some years wanting some jackets and getting them or not getting them...

I'd say if this is a jacket you like and feels like some kind of grail for you, and you can pick it up at a price that you won't take a bath if you end up flipping and reselling, then sometimes its better to buy it and try it rather than buying several other jackets trying to replicate what you feel it offers(Like I've done in the past).

Based on our discussion, the jacket is not worth full price, but for 35% of the RRP (practically new) it doesn't sound like a bad deal. I won't be getting any Aero in decent condition for such a price. You're basically getting a leather version of the Carhartt Detroit Jacket fit, which can survive changing trends. I know I'm going back and forth with the arguments here, but that's the nature of discussion, and the insight you guys provide is almost always constructive and good-natured

I was curious as this thread went on, and there seem to be about a dozen of these that sold recently with several listed still for sale all at the £150-250 price point.
I don't follow the brand but any idea what the deal with those is given the prices mentioned in this thread. I guess those are perhaps not genuine or else used prices vary a lot?
Fake. I bought one of these and it wasn’t even leather, it was some plastic. Returned it shortly after

Guys, I have to drop a quick mini-review now that I have the jacket in hand. (I managed to negotiate an even better price, and at that point, it just couldn't be helped. Nothing could have been done to prevent it...). I won't create a dedicated review thread so as not to force a brand on a board that might not want to see it. But I have to say, two things positively surprised me:

1. The Leather The grain is genuinely something to behold. It has a fascinating texture that catches the light beautifully. It actually has this specific shine that I previously saw on the Rainbow Country Hercules; I know that one is Japanese-sourced horsehide, but in terms of how the leather catches the light, that's what it reminds me of the most. What surprised also me is that while it's thick—actually thicker than my lightweight Cal Leather CHP and perhaps even slightly thicker than my contemporary Schott Perfecto—it isn't stiff. It has a very buttery, meaty feel, giving the jacket an incredibly luxurious quality overall.

2. The Fit Perhaps because I have a larger, athletic frame, the jacket drapes really good. It delivers that exact silhouette I've been chasing: strong shoulders reminiscent of vintage Durable jackets, but without looking comically oversized. When I put it on, it instantly gave off the impression of a truly timeless piece—contrary to what one might expect from this jacket (perhaps because its less broad than I expected). The collar is also substantial but not over the top. Honestly, this is the fit I always envisioned when looking at jackets like the Vanson Enfield, Schott 689 only to be confused when sometimes they fit completely differently on some pepole.

It's also worth pointing out that this jacket (although practically completely new) is from an older batch, produced before Louis Vuitton acquired shares in Our Legacy. It is said that the quality dropped on these jackets after that, so perhaps this is the reason why this specific piece looks and feels so good. I'm not entirely sure what else changed in the newer runs, apart from the fact that they started using Riri zippers instead of Lampo. That isn't necessarily a bad thing—I really like the Riri on my Eastman—but the Milan-made Lampo is just more in the spirit of this jacket.

Sorry for the lack of pictures for now!

I don’t like the looks of this jacket at all but if you can share some pics it would be helpful. The brand itself looks like typical ssense style high fashion mediocrity.

I'm really pleased you love it. That's the only true metric of whether anything is any good, after all.

Thanks, I really appreciate the kind and wise words!

Yeah, quality aside, it’s just much more aesthetically pleasing to me when a jacket fits like this:

rather than like this:

, even though I very much appreciate how the second jacket is made. This is meant to serve as a casual/smart-casual jacket rather than a riding jacket, so aesthetics and silhouette are key for me here.

Did you find time to take fit pictures yet?

Not yet—plus it's been way too hot for a jacket. I'm sure the guys here will have a field day with this jacket once I finally post them, but honestly, for a guy of modest taste like me, it doesn't feel bad at all in hand. I own pieces from Eastman, Schott, Cal Leather, etc., though I've never owned a true ultra-high-end jacket

Another new member already posted pictures and the leather looked good, he compared it to Lewis Leathers veg tanned cowhide. He also posted a fit snap but not a very conclusive one, so I hope you can show some more of fit and silhouette with all the praise you are giving to the jacket. As it stands, the comparison between a broken in Enfield and and a completely stiff and shiny new jacket in a model shooting does not really hold up..

You're right—I didn't use a picture of a brand-new jacket from a model shoot for the Vanson comparison, mainly because everyone says Vanson's website photos don't really do their jackets justice.

Just to be clear, I actually love Vanson and have wanted to grab one many times; I just haven't been lucky enough to find one in the right size yet.

I only posted that image as an example of a classic fit that most people on the board approve of, contrasted with my own personal fit preferences. Plus, in my opinion, that particular photo of the model in the Our Legacy jacket actually captures how the leather looks in person much better than a quick phone photo ever could.

I actually took a quick snap with my phone in an old, dirty mirror at work the other day, but you probably won't like it because it's not perfectly aligned, fully zipped up, etc. Here it is next to the Vanson model shot (I know the pose is different, so it's not entirely conclusive, but it's the best I've got for now!).
