Help finding the right cotton/rayon grosgrain?

Help! I need to find cotton/rayon blend grosgrain ribbon in ivory or cream with a width of 14mm, 15mm, or 5/8”. I can’t believe how hard it is to find… I’ve been searching everywhere and I’ve had no luck.

I need it for brim edge binding on a hat I’m having made. I can find it in Petersham, (which I can’t use), and galloon (which the hatter is concerned won’t lie flat enough on the severe upward curve of the brim), and silverbelly (which is way too khaki). I’ve run out of places to check and ways to phrase the search.

Any advice?

I am about to try the GMBrown galloon on a brim binding this morning. I will let you know. I have close to 6000 yards of vintage woven grosgrain and I don't have a cream or ivory.

Sewed a test strip today and it worked fine. Taut line, no wrinkles or puckers.
Thanks for the info. That’s encouraging. Are you going to be using it on a flat brim or an upward curve like a homburg or a pencil roll? Did you steam or wet it at all?

I think the hatter’s concern about using it may come from a bad previous experience. When I suggested it, he expressed how difficult he found it to dampen and that he’d have to apply heat to get it to contract properly to hug the edge. He may just be trying to warn me it’s more labor intensive and thus more expensive for me to use.

So, how’s it working out?
I only did the test strip as I have no hats needing brim binding in the cream colour I have. Though I am putting the cream ribbon on a crown right now and the ribbon is great. It swirls really well. Is substantial enough to hold a line yet soft enough to get nice loft from the bow. I like it. If your hatter can't get it to work the flaw is in his technique, not the ribbon.

Right on. Thanks, man, that's great to hear.
