Hi all,
Recently acquired what appears to be a genuine USN N-1 deck jacket and would love help tracking down its exact origin and manufacturer.
The single interior tag reads:
NAVY DEPARTMENT
CONTRACT NXs 32251
SIZE 42
Hardware details:
∙ Talon 8 zipper with window pane pull logo
∙ Dark composition four-hole buttons
∙ No secondary tags, no care label
Construction/materials:
∙ Khaki cotton sateen shell
∙ Dark chocolate brown alpaca pile lining
∙ Quilted collar
Condition is good with some expected fading on the shell. The alpaca pile retains significant loft.
I’ve been trying to date this via the Talon zipper logo and the NXs contract prefix, which I understand points to wartime production. Would love confirmation on that and any leads on who the contractor was.
Has anyone researched NXs 32251 specifically, or know which NARA record group would have the procurement ledgers for Navy clothing contracts of this era?
Photos attached.
Thanks in advance.
