What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

I don’t ride motorcycles. How could I possibly wear a cross zip without feeling I was doing a cosplay?

The Oxford cloth button down was originally created for polo players to have a robust shirt with a collar that would stay in place during play. And yet its use has spread so far beyond the niche as to become ubiquitous

You don’t need to ride a motorcycle to wear a crosszip. Or be in the navy to wear an N1 deck jacket or peacoat. And so on. But if the style feels inauthentic for you to wear, then don’t!

Absolutely!

I don't suppose all the people I see wearing trainers or tracksuit trousers are doing sport. And I don't suppose anyone wearing a parka is on cold-weather military operations.

But you wear what you feel comfortable wearing. If a cross zip makes you feel nervous, you don't have to try it.

Alternatively, just get a motorcycle and then you can wear all the cross zips you want with total impunity.

M65.

It's a repro not a real one, because I wanted to wear it as a jacket and not live in it with my whole family.

So this is a trimmer fit than an original, but still gives that great capacious feel.

It's Sherpa lined, with cotton twill in the sleeves, so nice and warm even when not layered over anything more than a Henley and a Western shirt.

Just a little critique here on the Y’2 shirt-jacket. I have to say, this piece as compared to my Iron Heart HH shirt is so much nicer and more refined. The fit is actually better than IH (although I can’t believe I just admitted that) The fact that the Y’2 is completely lined inside (the IH is not) makes a huge difference, in terms of comfort.

The only thing I do not like about the Y’2 are the snaps. They might have gone a little overboard with their ornamental style. If they had used, simple silver or brass snaps, I would’ve bought one of these beautiful Y’2 shirt/jackets a long time ago. What do you guys think?

It’s true. Good point. I rarely get asked where my plane is when I’m wearing my G1
A couple weeks ago my uncle saw my pioneer wear western trucker and said " hey John Denver ", he's probably the type who would jokingly say " Eyyyyy ! " or " hey fonzie " to somebody wearing a black cross zip but most people probably not say or think anything of it.

No clue why he connected a suede western trucker jacket to John Denver ( probably because he knows nothing about country music ), but as a diehard fan of classic / real country music I wanted to set him straight about that pop folk singer.
Instead I just laughed and said " sure, whatever " because I know he just doesn't care.

someone else told me the same exact thing. I think the problem with the pale rider is they used the wrong leather. It's supposedly veg tanned, but I have my doubts. At best it's combo because it has all the CXL qualities or whatever veg tan formula they used is not very good. No signs of it softening up which would be nice for a "shirt" so you get some drape. Instead it wears like a tortoise shell. I still like it, but it definitely can be improved next go round for sure.
