This crusty durable just arrived. It’s going to take some work but it’s a fit! Some of the thickest HH I’ve seen on any vintage jacket. Loads of great detail, all Bakelite buttons are there, interesting mix of fabrics throughout and an original two way talon I’ve never seen befor. Needs a serious sleeve repair but this thing might end up being my crown jewel. I’ve started with the Obernaufs. Fit pic straight out of the box it was crammed into.

It’s gotten to the point that I can tell as soon as it comes out of the box. When I saw it was a size larger than the Herc I sent to Reg, I was thrilled! It’s a 42”. Tight but alright.

Perfect fit. These longer jackets sometimes have unflattering fits, this one looks like a fitted cut.

Edit. Disaster! The back yoke completely crumbled like cardboard when I turned the sleeve inside out! Was going to attempt to hand stitch the sleeve repair and the yoke literally disintegrated! Threw the damn thing right into the dumpster!

I’m done! FTS!!!!!

Man the worst single of dry rot I’ve ever encountered. Yoke literally turned into kitty litter. This is why I’m wearing peacoats and wool. Leather f’ing blows.

Keep the zipper at least or deconstruct for the pattern maybe?

It’s the worst feeling. I had zipper tape from a 40s police jacket literally experience Thanos’ snap right before my eyes. It was surreal. I sat there watching it float into oblivion.

Brand new Five Star "whiskey" horsehide aviator. Currently waiting at Moynahan Station for a 7:25am train down south to visit the family. Gonna enjoy frolicking in the countryside wearing this, barely had a chance to wear it since i received it Monday

Yeah, I understand the frustration. That’s why I sold all my vintage jackets a few years back. Just had too many issues with trying to keep things wearable. The only old jacket I still have is the Excelled leather I bought when I was 18. Everything else is new reproductions.

I’ve had some good luck with vintage stuff. Probably around 150 pieces or more over the past 20 years or so. This is only the second one I’ve had crumble. TBH I should’ve known better. It’s time for me to stop buying yellow jackets that started off brown and thinking I can Botox that *** back to life.

I think I might've cried. I'm guessing there's no practical way to have the yoke replaced by someone like Deena in a scenario like this, and from how damn perfect that thing looked at first to this must be a real kick in the &$!@. Sorry for your loss!

Potentially I could have Dena do that but the cost would be astronomical. Just not worth it.
