Post New Hats Here!

Thanks for the information.
The seller was located in Italy.

This is good information to know from Steve @mayserwegener .

I have an Anderson just like yours apart from the colour Marcel. I always thought it was made by Cervo. Perhaps it was made by Tonak for Cervo.

That is also possible Steve. Who knows

This makes sense because it's a CM size. You see such Anglo marks in Continental Europe. You could try to search the Anderson trademark. The Hat was definitely made by Tonak. The Liner and Sweatband are also clearly Tonak.

Steve, This Hat was definitely made by Tonak. As I mentioned the Sweatband and Liner are also typical of Tonak from this time period. Might be worth searching for the "Anderson" trademark. It could be a distributor like FWS Köln.

Steve, I have absolutely no doubt that you are right. I was in no way questioning your judgement.

Here's a "Cervo" I have. Obviously made by Tonak. Who else in Czechoslavakia after WWII?

Steve, No problem, I just didn't want to cause confusion. After WWII all factories were nationalized as Tonak. Only JHS Main Factory (Nový Jičín) and Janyška Factory (Valašské Meziříčí – Krásno about 25 km from Nový Jičín) survived as Tonak. The Janyška Factory closed in the early 1960s.

P. & C. Habig Wien "Special Qualität", 58 cm, 147 grams, possibly early to mid 1920s. This is an older one based on the Paper Label type and the use of city name Cassel vs. Kassel. In 1926 the city name was officially changed to Kassel.** The Black Felt has a superb finish / hand. The Form is impressive with a taller Crown and less side tapper. The component quality and workmanship are excellent which is always the case with P. & C. Habig Wien. The overall condition is very good especially for its age.

The Worker's "Arb." surname appears to be "Makovsky". I will have to see if I can find something about him.

Stetson The Sovereign Twenty. Mode/felted edge, 6” open crown and 2 3/4” wide brim. Guessing mid-1950s.

That label is indeed (almost) the same as mine.

Wow. Spectacular. Wee bit small though, dang it.

Thanks, guys. It’s a great hat with great dimensions. I like the felt of older hats a bit more, but these are just about the perfect proportions.

Randy, Thank you!

Great new addition…. Looks sharp on you Robert. Congratulations

Grateful thanks, Joe. It's the first felt I have bought in such a light colour. Esther made me a light blue Srat-a-like, which compliments clothing of a similar hue, whereas the cream colour will contrast with any number of my sports blazers.

None of the 25’s I’ve owned and handled were like this. Even threw a black one in the garbage once. I was down on the 25. Now, not so much. A nice addition to the OR lineup.

Early 25 beauty!

[The Shoe]

My new to me Lagomarsino Nutria arrived today. It was $US29. The felt is soft and has a very nice hand despite a couple of blemishes - nothing too noticeable. The fit is just right.

Not a superstar in my modest collection, but I’m very happy with it.

[Daniele Tanto]

Summer finds in an Italy too hot for the period.

Borsalino Qualità Superiore, size is 6 1/2 or 60 centimeters ot 7 1/2 US, that comes from the "Matthias Hutter" seller in Merano from whom I bought a lot.

This comes from a private individual who had put together a small Borsalino collection from the recent era

As you can see, color is a number. it is probably one of the "cold" grays from A's house

Maybe Uranium or maybe something similar.

The felt is of excellent quality as well as finishes despite its recent past

The measures are these: the brims, sewed over, are 5.5 cm. and the ribbon at 4 centimeters, the fully open crown is at 13 centimeters.

A beautiful hat, very elegant in a classic combination for Borsalino. Look for a home

[Daniele Tanto]

"Blessed are the small sizes because the vintage hat market will be theirs"

One of those hats that are rarely encountered in the life of an attentive collector. I bought it with my eyes closed, hoping ...

Morreton "Velrex"color is "Baltique", size 55-56 approximately

It has an internal opening of exactly 19x16 centimeters

It is certainly an antique hat, although, for me, it is difficult to date the creations of Morreton, one of the little-known French makers

I have the same type of black velvet hat with the same denomination and lining,
This is made of very fine blue velour and with a surface finish with a very short fur

The measures are these: the brims are 6 cm. and the ribbon at 2.5cm, the fully open crown is at 14cm.

This too is looking for a home, although I know a collector in the Land of Tulips who would have an astonish piece to add to his splendid collection. I'm sure he saw it but....maybe he is not believe it was such a beauty ;-)
