"Blessed are the small sizes because the vintage hat market will be theirs"
Morreton Baltique 4.jpg
One of those hats that are rarely encountered in the life of an attentive collector. I bought it with my eyes closed, hoping ...
Morreton Baltique 2.jpg
Morreton "Velrex"color is "Baltique", size 55-56 approximately
Morreton Baltique etichetta carta.jpg
It has an internal opening of exactly 19x16 centimeters
Morreton Baltique 5.jpg
It is certainly an antique hat, although, for me, it is difficult to date the creations of Morreton, one of the little-known French makers
Morreton Baltique interno totale.jpg
I have the same type of black velvet hat with the same denomination and lining,
This is made of very fine blue velour and with a surface finish with a very short fur
Morreton Baltique 6.jpg
The measures are these: the brims are 6 cm. and the ribbon at 2.5cm, the fully open crown is at 14cm.
Morreton Baltique 7.jpg
This too is looking for a home, although I know a collector in the Land of Tulips who would have an astonish piece to add to his splendid collection. I'm sure he saw it but....maybe he is not believe it was such a beauty ;-)

The old Panama showed up. It appears to be between a size 6-7/8 and a 7. There is also a break in the weaving that was not shown in the auction photos, but it can probably be repaired or certainly stablized. There are no markings on the sweat band (perhaps a replacement?) and there is only a cloth tag with a lot or inventory number behind. I'm coming up with a 900+ WPSI. The box is not original to the hat.

It will go up on eBay soon. Bummed it doesn't fit me, but they almost never do.

Thank you @Bill Hughes for passing on this Mallory Aristocrat Quality! The second photo has typical camera distortion making it look taller than it really is. Still, it has some nice noir character. Deserves better than a t-shirt but just wanted to get a photo up. Love the wide binding on the 2 5/8” brim.

However much you paid for that hat you didn’t overpay for that hat! Beautiful!

Edgewood Fine Hats in a disappointing size 7. “Cushion Comfort” sweatband, 5 5/8” open crown and 2 5/8” bound brim. The brim binding is Whippet-like and the crown ribbon is 1 3/8” wide. The felt is very moldable and has an almost antelope finish to it. I’ve not heard of this brand before, but I’ll be looking for them in the future.

7 1/8 Emerson. “Emersonian Quality” and “Dryette.” Nice lightweight felt that reminds me of 1950s Stetson Royal felt: nice, but not as nice as others. Love the unique bow…not a pug but looks similar. The bow is sewn to the hat as is the ribbon at the normal locations. There is a wind trolley button but no cord…decorative only. The brim is 2 1/2” wide with a wide Whippet-like binding and the crown is a modest 5 3/8” open. It readily accepted a dry crease.

You're on a roll lately finding such nice hats that are, unfortunately, too small for you. I hope you're at least passing them on to people who appreciate them, and making a little profit in the process.

The goal is a self-funding hobby. I make a little profit for the occasional hat that is in my size. More common is the funding on a new custom hat.

Stefan, your powers have played a little joke on you.
The Morreton had been on the market for some time, but being a small size (unspecified on the ad), no one seemed interested. I hoped for a "decent" size knowing I was lying to myself.
It is ready to travel to the Netherlands ;)

Last purchase for the summer, so I hope:cool:
Caffè Borsalino 1.jpg
This is a type of felt, color and finish that I have widely in my collection.
Caffè Borsalino 3.jpg
Borsalino Qualità Extra Superiore size 6 1/2 or 60 cm. and 7 1/2 in the US
Caffè Borsalino MH interno totale.jpg
This too is a hat that comes from "Matthias Hutter" of Merano through a collector
Caffè Borsalino 6.jpg
It is a "modern" era Borsalino in a color that I really like "Caffé"
Caffè Borsalino MH etichetta carta.jpg
The felt is soft and finished with a medium fur, the ribbon match the color
Caffè Borsalino 7.jpg
The measures are these: the brims, sewed over, are 5.5 cm. and the ribbon at 4 centimeters, the fully open crown is at 13.5 centimeters
Caffè Borsalino 5.jpg
It is looking for a home. A hat for the autumn season of which it has the colors.

Very nice, David. Those wide bindings don't always work, but on this Mallory they got right.

I wouldn't call size 7 disappointing at all on these hats (allright, so one is a size 7 1/8). Beautiful hats, Brent. Very very tempting.
