Post New Hats Here!

[mayserwegener]

Wow is right. And like @PanosChris said, if you ever find another one in a 1/8...........that is such a unique hat that it is bound to generate some attention and lots of discussion. Yes, I hope to see more of your posts in different light. Or, just send it to Eric @Short Balding Guy and he can give us some snow pictures

Randy, Thanks! I wish I could find more of them. I need to up my photo work.

[emoji4]. We Europeans have managed to convince some of you guys in the States who were in doubt that you could rock a Bowler/Derby, Homburg etc or not that you could, so it's only fair that we should show a quid pro quo [emoji145]

I second that!

[mayserwegener]

I'm in genuine awe, Steve.

Stefan, Thank you! It was a lucky find. The shipping cost was more than the hat cost.

[Steve1857]

You have that new sherriff look down already, Steve!

Thanks Stefan. Probably more old sheriff than new [emoji4]

Wegener "Start", 58 cm, possibly late 1920s early 1930s. Over Welt Curled Brim with Back Bow. There might be some wool in the felt mix. A mix of colors with rougher clip but a very soft hand. There is some wear but still in very good condition with all original components including the crown patch. I only have two other old Wegener Soft Felts so a rare find.

The paper label is similar to this Wegener "Elasticon" Stiff Felt that belongs to Robert (RLK).

Exquisite Steve. Magnificent!!!

@Hagwood , @Héctor Fernández , @AbbaDatDeHat , @Steve1857 , @mayserwegener @Blare @steur (hope not forgetting someone) thank you all for your kind words and compliments ! Much appreciated !

Bowen you are right, sometimes the not so famous brands produced hats that many of the big names would be jealous of. These are always special findings and bring us a lot of joy

Best,
Panos

Unless you're willing to regularly shell out the Big Bucks, off-brands are where it's at. Some of my favorites are not the more famous brands.

With all the excitement of the arrival of my Penny’s Marathon I almost forgot about its travel mate.

Keith **XX Major ‘Imported Coney’ in black.

Black ‘Imported Coney Fur’ - essentially Rabbit

Size 7 “custom made”

4 1/2 inch crown as creased

2 inch underwelt brim

2 in grosgrain ribbon

1 3/4 leather sweat

Wind Trolley

No manufacturing tags under liner at all

I believe Fruno had said the Keith hat brand is part of the Lion/Beaver hats brand lineage.

This hat really has a very nice feel to it and I really like it’s look.

This evening I got caught in a downpour and got to take advantage of its ‘Mirakal Process - Water Proof - DuPont Quillion’

I really like the lines and look of what I assume is its factory crease. It has a classy look to it as is... I think I will keep it this way as my other black hats I have mostly given deeper pinches and creases.

Best,
Joe

I was expecting to be posting a Dobbs and a Mallory in this thread today. However, a really wonderful surprise changed that. I bought two hats from Bob Hufford. They arrived today. He very kindly added this to the lot, unbeknownst to me. A Stetson Open Road 4x Beaver Silver Belly! I've been wanting one for a while. What a great surprise and a very kind gesture, Bob. Thank you so much [emoji145]
P.S. Don't worry folks, you'll be seeing the Dobbs and Mallory very soon [emoji4]

Another great lesser known brand find Joe !

[Hagwood]

Thanks to Randall @Randall Renshaw for the heads up on this one on ebay. Got it for $12 ! I don’t think it’s ever been worn. It’s a 6-3/4 but couldn’t pass it up. It’s on the stretcher now, so hopefully I’ll post it in WHAYWT in a few days...

Wonderfully soft felt and a pretty cool color combo with the dark gray and chocolate brown ribbon, instead of black. O.P.S. Price tag still attached on the outside of the sweat.

2-3/4” cavanagh edge brim
5-1/2” open crown

Thanks Tim... I was laser focused on the Marathon... so I was very pleasantly surprised with this gem of a bonus! I see why the seller was featuring this one as they said the Penny’s was a beat up ‘wool’ hat. I was like no it’s not!

Best,
Joe

Thanks Joe, I sure hope the stretch takes on it, it could be a favorite.

But it’s actually not the one I was eluding to, as I wasn’t aware it was going to be in this condition. Got a really big one on the way from somewhere overseas.....
