Thanks Joe, I sure hope the stretch takes on it, it could be a favorite.

But it’s actually not the one I was eluding to, as I wasn’t aware it was going to be in this condition. Got a really big one on the way from somewhere overseas.....

Woohooo... more stuff to look forward too! [emoji3]

Good luck on the stretch! Fingers crossed... if not keep your smaller headed bro in mind. LOL

I believe Fruno had said the Keith hat brand is part of the Lion/Beaver hats brand lineage.

This hat really has a very nice feel to it and I really like it’s look.

I really like the lines and look of what I assume is its factory crease. It has a classy look to it as is... I think I will keep it this way as my other black hats I have mostly given deeper pinches and creases.

Looks good, Joe. The brim looks wider than two inches, but I think I’m just used to seeing brims in proportion to larger hats.

Thanks to Randall @Randall Renshaw for the heads up on this one on ebay. Got it for $12 ! I don’t think it’s ever been worn. It’s a 6-3/4 but couldn’t pass it up. It’s on the stretcher now, so hopefully I’ll post it in WHAYWT in a few days...

Wonderfully soft felt and a pretty cool color combo with the dark gray and chocolate brown ribbon, instead of black. O.P.S. Price tag still attached on the outside of the sweat.

2-3/4” cavanagh edge brim
5-1/2” open crown

Thanks Brent. Yeah I agree it does look bigger. It is a good solid two inches. I think most of my 2inch hats are really just under.

Definitely though proportions do change in look as hat size goes up. Also looking back on photos from last year or so... my same hats looked MUCH smaller when I was heavier.

Joe

I was expecting to be posting a Dobbs and a Mallory in this thread today. However, a really wonderful surprise changed that. I bought two hats from Bob Hufford. They arrived today. He very kindly added this to the lot, unbeknownst to me. A Stetson Open Road 4x Beaver Silver Belly! I've been wanting one for a while. What a great surprise and a very kind gesture, Bob. Thank you so much [emoji145]
P.S. Don't worry folks, you'll be seeing the Dobbs and Mallory very soon [emoji4]

If I remember right, when researching my Courtney that has the Dupont treatment, that was a patent by Lee, so probably made by them. I’m very impressed with the felt on that Courtney, seems like Lee made some great private label stuff. Probably made your Marathon too.

Yes Lee more than likely made the Marathon. The DuPont thing caught my eye too and wondered something similar as my Lee I think mentions it as well. It is possible they made this as I suspect this was near then end of Keith’s timeline as a brand... so maybe they were outsourcing at that time.

Didn’t realize there was a Lee patent on the DuPont process.. I had just assumed it was some DuPont chemical they were spraying on their hats like todays scotch guard or 303

Joe

This could just as appropriately be placed in the WTF Hats thread. This is the Anchor Man that I posted photos of last week. I’ve never seen another hat like it. For $12.18 including shipping I had to have it.

It’s got some impressive measurements: 6 1/4” open crown and a 3 3/4” deeply flanged brim. It swallowed my straight sided block with almost no resistance; it was originally blocked with very little taper. I’m not sure if the sweatband is leather or an imitation, but from the feel I know it won’t let me peak under it. Size is a generous 7 5/8 and fits me perfectly.

The weave is very open...about SPF 2. ;)
The weave gives it a delicate personality leaning towards feminine, but the dimensions, the 7 5/8 size, and the bow on the left makes me think it’s a man’s hat.
