Got this CPW-45 Deadstock 80's Spiewak (Made in the USA) with blackened Scovill zips and you can see how short this sucker is - It's actually really awesome to drive in because of that, but short as hell.
This is no doubt why Diamond Dave decided to add length to this style of jackets.
This one had tags and is an amazingly warm and comfy piece to toss on. I've gotten more smitten with these types of jackets mainly because SoCal is so warm most of the time.
Please overlook the Sunday morning outfit and hangover face/hair.

It’s a fine hide, subtle graining and relatively lightweight.
It’s a warm colour without being too russet. John’s craftsmanship is great on this one, particularly the double and triply stitched seams on the sleeves.

Today I wore my BK-made M-422; a repro of the first model 422 by Willis & Geiger. The goatskin is what BK called "mountain goatskin". Jacket was made for me about 5 years ago so BK has probably switched to a different goatskin for their newer jackets. It's thick and heavy (feels like FQHH!!!! Lol) and the color is almost a cordovan reddish-brown. Super grainy and has that LW "******proof" feel to it. Superb workmanship and outstanding materials. It's a beast of a jacket that could withstand just about anything.

I think that may be my favorite out of all of your G-1's! The color and grain are a nice departure from the usual dark seal we are accustomed to. When I first saw the photo I thought it was one of the ELMC horsehide G-1's that I have been coveting, but I think your BK might be even nicer than those. Looking good!

Being a bit obsessive at times about authenticity and accuracy in a repro, the BK cordovan/seal brown mountain goatskin really creates quite a dilemma for me. On one hand it’s a gorgeous color with lots of depth and variation in tone and grain; but on the other hand it’s not exactly the standard seal brown seen on originals and most other repro G-1 jackets.
But in my collection of military jackets I feel there’s always room for an outlier; a jacket that looks good yet may not be spot-on accurate for a G-1.

IMHO, there is a certain standard of deviation that is acceptable. Revised fits and use of different leathers fit squarely within my acceptable standard of deviation.

I completely agree that the original issue G-1's are the best and I prize them above all others in my collection. That said, it is nice to have some variety sometimes and I think that your BK fits the bill perfectly.
