Always loved that j-21 of his but I've gotta say, I really agree with this sentiment. It just suits you really well A-1, good call ditching the LVC menlo for this one.

Thank you both. This jacket is nice but still not the same love as the J-21. haha. I even thought about selling it because why do I even need two leather jackets...
But I think I’m gonna keep it. It’s just very tight with a thick sweater that’s all.

Ah, and the watch is a Russian automatic model from 1966. On our flea market we have two watch freaks who have the most beautiful old watches for virtually nothing. And they know everything about them and can repair each watch that they sell. They don’t like new expensive watches because you cannot repair them anymore.
The price is so low, it’s ridiculous. When you look them up online they come up with a price tag three times as high. It’s just their hobby. They don’t do it to make money obviously.

Lots of rain today. Decided to give my Destroyer of Worlds coat a trial run to see if it was worth it's salt, and space on the coat rack.

I will have to say that after an hour on the bicycle, during which most of an inch of rain fell on me, I was dry.

And the coat was still pretty much shedding water, though it may have weighed about 15 lbs by then. Ha ha.

I'm changing over my closet to cold weather clothes and finally ran across my 1950 Army pants, so I thought I would like to see them with the Ike jacket.

So it's longer by a bit more than the width of the knits, it seems.

While I was looking for info on the LL Bean model I found it was made by Golden Bear in San Francisco and should date from 1989 or earlier.

That A2 looks so great, goes well with the pants. The Ike jackets were copied from the army jackets the Brits wore in WWII. Never really liked that style but guess it was good enough for both the Americans and Germans to copy it. I once had a British Ike style jacket in RAF blue and it scratched like hell! I like the contrast your shirt brings to the whole outfit.

I'm guessing that the pants are wool?

Thought I'd share a pic of a jacket the gf and I found at our local Goodwill. It is a fashion jacket, probably 80s or later...but check out the 20s Hercules back!

Thanks Al. I guess you could say the jacket and pants were made to go together since the color of OD that the pants were made from is the color that was in use when the A-2 was designed. I'm rather liking the Ike in this tight quasi shirt size. Wearing it is probably somewhat akin to what wearing a corset must have felt like. Ha ha. I've seen the British jackets only in the movies and they are definitely of a similar design to the Ike. I'm fortunate that scratchy wool doesn't bother me much.

Yes, the pants are made out of the same 18 ounce wool serge as the Ike jacket. And I'm all about animal products today with a RL roll neck or turtleneck merino wool base layer, Hickey Freeman wool and cashmere shirt, wool pants and jacket, goatskin with wool knits jacket, fur felt hat and cowhide shoes. Oh yeah, wool socks. Ha ha. Gotta love cool weather.
