Thanks Jim. It was a small company I worked for based out of Jacksonville. Mostly independent guys work there.. though we definitely had a lot of big names work their way through. Sounds like your hey day was in between mine (if I had one LOL) and Buddy Rogers.. he was the top guy wherever he went for most of the 50’s and 60’s. Now I keep his tribute site up at buddyrogers.net and on social media. Just my way of giving back and keeping his legend alive.
Thanks again.. you are right. A very cool feather in my fedora.. or homburg as it were that night
I started becoming a fan in the 60s with Bobo Brazil, The Kangaroos, Tex McKenzie, Ben Justice and the Stomper, etc. Cry Baby Cannon was a big deal, too, along with Bull Curry, his kid, Flyin' Fred Curry, and of course, the Original Sheik. And man, I loved me some Bruiser Brody - I was heartbroken by his murder.
I reacquainted myself in the 80s watching old Georgia Championship Wrestling, Vern Gagne's AWA (Nick Bockwinkle FTW!), and the WCCW out of Texas (Von Ericks and the like). I enjoyed it in the late 80s when the Hulkster took it prime time, but then it lost me.
