I love this one, David. I actually printed out a color copy of it for my trip to Ecuador to show weavers examples of what I like. It's one of my absolute favorites from the entire FL website. If for some insane reason you ever decide to sell it, then send me a message!

Thanks Fed (and to everyone who liked or commented) - this is a hat I feel so lucky to own.

I can't tell you how many times I asked Art if he had a semi body just kicking around - the answer was always NO. Then one time he said yes!

This is one of my best hats for sure: perfection in straw as far as I'm concerned.

Having said that, Art just happens to be working on an interesting little project with me...

Cheers! David

Hey all!
This Dobbs "Sunbrero" with a Western flair was made right around 1960, give or take a year. At 65g, the unknown straw type rivals my Parabuntal in weight, with an open weave perfect for this warm summer day.

Today I reached for the boater shelf and selected a fine plaited straw from Knox. But I couldn't help swapping head time for a new arrival from Australia.

Yes, it is a Yeddo straw... not sure the connection with Japan, this was probably sourced from Italy or Switzerland.
I thought the Yeddo straw was a Japanese thing from the early century. I'll spend some quality time on the Boater Faction thread to refresh my aged memory.

Just cleared out the cobwebs and found the Japanese weave from the teens and twenties is called "sinnet" (Yeddo sounded Japanese, Sinnet more European) I don't care Alan, your boaters are exquisite!
