Man, you guys are all so stylish! Today, I'm wearing something most people wouldn't be caught dead wearing.
But hey, it's 104° it's humid and I'm working outside today.
I've yet to find a hot weather hat that beats the heat better than one of these.

The cap is made by our member Keith Lo Bue. He describes the fabric as hand woven hemp straw:

"The hemp is grown by the Hmong tribeswomen, dried, and the hemp fiber stripped from the stem and pounded, boiled, spun and coated with wax before it can be strung on an old wooden loom and woven into the finished product. All year around the tribeswomen can be seen with hemp fibers wound around their hands, using what spare time they have to connect the separate fibers to make one use-able thread."

The boater is made from braided straw plaits that are attached together in some fashion... I assume sewn. Much like a milan but finer and stiffer.

Cheers! David
Sharpness!

Great looking crown weave, air conditioning!

In a nod to temps predicted to be in the 90s today, a PB Milan sits atop my noggin.

It is good to see the rare straw on you today Jim. That Milan is classic.

I vote that you set that crease and leave it be Jack
I really like the way that thing turned out
Not a damn thing wrong with it and it looks good on you .
Looks like some great felt as well
Thanks Moon. All the steam did reactivate a bit of stiffness in the felt so I can actually touch it without it changing shape. I'm really liking the color combo with the copper colored ribbon & binding.

Running quick errands with the c.20s Stetson Nutria. I apologize for the lack of variation in my posts as of late, I am just really enjoying these westerns, especially for being outdoors in the yard

Haha, appreciate it. We have a town by whete I live that is preserved 1800s buildings and such. I should walk into one of the saloons, and do the movie staredown. Let me grab some spurs and a sidearm first
