Nice hat camel hair Brent. I recently bought a Borsalino camel hair with very similar dimensions except the ribbon is black. It also has a similar brim size. I will have to wear it one day.

David S.

The first time my mother saw me wearing the hat, she asked if I had considered a black band on it. She thought that would be a little dressier, which is probably true.

I'm not sure a black ribbon would be dressier. It would be different. But it might look sportier, as opposed to dressier. Black on brown doesn't necessarily translate to more formal. Personally I think dark brown on light brown is more formal. But it's a small point in any case.

Randall-- I agree with Manfred-- for a beater, that sure is sharp!
Alan-- wow. super. great shirt too!
Manfred, thanks for the kind words recently, and may I post an immediate link to your hat du jour in the "top ten" thread? That one has me wide-eyed!

"favo(u)rite..." hm, I think I get it: the majority of the hats in my basement...

Nice morning pecans there gents. Tom, nice to see you step on the wide side. :)

Thank you, Alan - I'm not really a brown hat guy, but the little bit of green shade in the Pecan felt make it rather nice. Great Borsalino for you today.

Tom; yes, that is a super wide ribbon compared to most of your hats!

That's quite the "Tall"-water!

Indeed, AnA. Tony's hats are on the bold side from a styling point of view. This was my first custom hat and I love the quality of everything.

M0nk - nice Whippet today.

DJH: Thanks for the recommendation! I love the Tumwater. The dimensions and ribbon are unique and work well.

Thanks, CC - I'm a big fan of Tony's work. I have another one floating in my mind at the moment. I like your S20, I always wish they had a little wider brim though, especially with that nice Mode Edge.

DJH,

Do you ever wear any other color hat with that dark-brown leather jacket? If so you ought to reconsider. ;) That combo is absolutely together perfect in style and color IMHO.

Thanks, Brent. I actually wear a bunch of hats with this jacket (it was made by a fellow Lounger, by the way), grey, blue, green, Silverbelly all seem to go pretty well. I do like the combo with the Pecan though. Nice to see you in a Tumwater today as well.

John - I'd say the Moonstone is my favorite Akubra colour. If I ever get another (I have one, a Campdraft) it would be Moonstone all the way.

David, great high crown , sharp looking Tumwater on you!

Thanks, Manfred. Your Caballero looks really cool today.

Randall - nice "beater" you have there.

Joao - I wish I could wear the western hat style the way you can. You have it down to a fine art!

Robert - great shot! I can just see Dinerman with that same look as well.

Great hats today!

Manfred, I really like the color of that Homburg!

Alan, that Borso is superb.

Joao, the western styles you wear always look good on you.

m0nk, lovely whippet. I've got my eye on some eBay whippets, so I might be joining that club soon.

Jeff, I love the brim on that Champ.

Randall, we should all have beaters that nice!

Stetson 100 for me today, at the WWI/WWII era Fort Funston here on the coast, which has been converted into the best dog park in the city (the pup was with me, but wouldn't sit still for a photo op!)

French Fedora

I know a few words and phrases in French but can anyone here translate the information on the stickers inside of the hat and tell me the age and maker. Thanks

Google translate just gives me:
"TO
GALLERIES LAFAYETTE"

My 1930s Stetson Special... again. My hate choice is limited to this one at the moment, but hopefully it will expand in the near future!

The second line is simply the address, Lafayette Street, Paris.

Not positive, but I think the 47 is 47 francs, which would be the price.

WOW! That looks just like the hats my dad always wore, up until he passed away in 1983. I still have his last hat, and I wear it occasionally. Resistol "long oval"...

Missed some real knock-outs yesterday!

Alan: What a gorgeous Borsalino. Love the contrasting piped ribbon and stitching on the edge binding.

Jared: Super tone-on-tone photo. You really do that Stetson 100 justice.

David S.: A thing of beauty, your old 'Lafayette'. Outstanding ribbon.

splintercellsz: Quality over quantity, ANY day. Take good care of that Stetson Special, it is a treasure.
