DJH: Thanks for the recommendation! I love the Tumwater. The dimensions and ribbon are unique and work well.

Delectans: I like this hat both ways but generally wear it brim down as I'm more used to that. For some reason it makes the brim feel smaller to flip it up. It is definitely nice to hear others opinions however so thanks!

Brent Hutto: I'm liking that camel color. It's not a color you see much and it looks good and works great as a fall color.

casechopper,

In combination with a light-blue shirt the camel hat looks so much like something my late father would wear that it kind of startles me when I look in the mirror. He did not wear dress hats but a camel jacket and light-blue dress shirt was probably his favorite "look" when not dressed casually. And a camel or other light-brown casual jacket and blue work shirt or flannel shirt was typical at-home weekend dress. Makes me feel kind of old but I've got to admit it works well!

m0nk,

You know, if a man had nothing but Whippets in his closet he could still dress smartly for just about any occasion. Totally classic hats, those Whippets.

DJH,

Do you ever wear any other color hat with that dark-brown leather jacket? If so you ought to reconsider. ;) That combo is absolutely together perfect in style and color IMHO.

Really great customs and vintage hats today guys. I'm wearing my Fed IV this morning. I may change later as it warms up here.

Thanks all, the Whippet has become my favorite hat... it seems to go well with anything, but I was very pleasantly surprised that it went so well with my suit today.

Nice ones this morning, though I'm not sure I understand the phrase "my favorite hat!"

Taking photographic inspiration from Eric (Short Balding Guy) in my pecan Champ this blustery morning. My only complaint about this hat is that it's stubborn about holding a long oval.

casechopper,

I always like the mode edge. And I ought to get a hat with a wide black ribbon, everybody needs a dressy hat like that. Is it about a 2-1/2" brim? Surely no more than that...

Hi Brent,
It's a 2" brim. There's more info in the post new hats here thread. I'm thinking that I'm not going to keep this one as the brim really is stretching the limits for me. I thought that the mode edge could possibly make the brim appear larger the way my Lee from yesterday does with its bound edge (the Lee's also a 2 1/8" brim). It still appears smaller than I'd like to my eye though so it'll probably pop up in the classifieds at some time.

Favorite hat, favorite hat...

... ah, there it is.
"Favorite hat (Amer.); favourite hat (Brit.), noun. Used with sg. or pl. verb.
A comparatively small number of hats that have become a favorite.

Nice hat camel hair Brent. I recently bought a Borsalino camel hair with very similar dimensions except the ribbon is black. It also has a similar brim size. I will have to wear it one day.
