Wonderful addition , Mike. Gorgeous looking homburg. Looks like you're adding to the collection even faster than I do!
Actually, this is one of my earlier hats. I just don't wear it enough. The seller on Ebay had it listed as a "Bowler" for $20 with a box, a nice Stephen L. Stetson box. When I got the hat I was surprised to find it was really something special. I should actually add it to the homburg nation, my old post of it is well out of date per my current research.

If you do go that route I highly recommend going at least Premier ...

The pre creased Stratoliners are pretty awful
Anthony thanks for the advice. I have not actually put my eyes on one yet. I’m limited in my area of South Carolina for vendors that sell hats. So I will have to actually see the pre creased hat before purchasing one.
I agree with Anthony @moontheloon response about getting a Premier or better. I bought a Royal Stratoliner last year and sold it after wearing it once. The felt was not much different from a decent wool hat, stitching on the ribbon was awful and it just fit wonky. And with the factory crease the crown is pretty low, make sure you try one on before buying it or the top of your head my be rubbing the inside of the crown.
Richard I will definitely keep your advice in mind. The few hats that I own I’ve had to try on many to find one that fit and felt right. I wear an 7 5/8 - 7 3/4 depending on which hat I have chosen to purchase.

Cool! We see too few of these C&K hats, and especially one this early. Great crown Justin.

My godfather passed away so a black hat.
Sorry to hear this Joao.

Nice! I love mine, don't wear it enough.

Good to see you're up and about again, Mike.
Barbisio and a nutria. Now I'm all jealous! Like to see more of that one, Mike.
This little Lobbia came by way of Daniele a while back. Nice felt, I put a diamond crease into it for casual wear. I figure that "Rat Gondin" must be Italian for "big old hairy rat"!

One of my favorites Greg, super hat.

I hope I'm not too late for SHARKS' GILL WEDNESDAY...

M&K Custom Hatters of Los Angeles, early 1940s, I think...

That is gorgeous Charlie, Gills for days.

Hey all!
I was going to wear the Seal Velour today, but this talk of Sharksgill Week made it nervous.
So, I went with this Vanzina of modern manufacture (same sticker as my Borsalino Como) that has the appropriate trim.
Have a great day!

Very funny John. Nice Vanzina in it's place.

Didn't have time to post yesterday, but it was the T&W Lees in eventide grey.

Today was the Resolut homburg in brown

Both are beautiful Stefan, but that brim on the homburg...classic.

Yes, BOTH are top-notch, as always, Stefan! But there's something about that scarf... At the risk of channeling Rodney Dangerfield, my wife gave me this scarf; where did you get yours?! ;)
VS, in Oxblood. Vintage French copper ribbon.

I sure love the Oxblood. I wonder if Art still has that available? Need to get my order in.

Cool, another 10. I should have worn my Mallory 10 Brown Homburg today. Didn't get the memo until too late.

Today's class is at the Oregon Jewish Museum in Portland. I'm looking forward to a backstage tour of this museum. Should be a great day. I felt that an appropriate hat would be the Hardeman "Governor" full on black homburg, from the early 1950s. Since it was sold originally at Byrnie Utz Hatters, a famous Jewish hat store of the Northwest, it should fit the bill nicely.

Perfect hat for the occasion Mike, the inside of that one looks almost better than the felt.

Mighty Mallory, Jack!

I hope you straightened out your lawyer...
Charlie, I would imagine you & I are at about the same spot in life on this continuum, so I won't go into much detail. I'm trying to pay it forward for my kids & grandkids as I think my ancestors did for me. So much to do yet...so little time.

There's an old saying along the lines, "no matter your scars...you're judged on what you do after the wounds close."

I'm not a big fan of westerns but wow. That hat is outstanding. The shape, the color, the ribbon! Yikes!

Coincidentally, yesterday I found a western (5X beaver) I bought 14 years ago in northern Colorado and wore a few times, and then put away. Last night, when I ran across it and dug it out, as long as I was recreasing fedoras, I put the western to the steam and redid the brim more to my liking.

I also found some grosgrain of the thickness I prefer, pulled off the thin leather band, and did a mockup with the grosgrain. What a difference!

Now I see your hat and I'm thinking that it has been ordained that I do this. I'm gonna sew it on as soon as I can, and maybe actually wear the hat again.

Well, here's that hat. It still needs a little bit of grooming, but I like the overall look of it. To me, the wide ribbon (and some shaping) makes all the difference.
