From Los Angeles, late 1930s-1940... very fine finish inside and out.

Thanks again for the kind comments folks.

David & GTDean - lovely Artlites
HatsRme - Great Knox - the ribbon proportions are spot on.
Perry - you've definitely got the perfect facial proportions for those Strats
Case - great slope on that Greta
Alan - the detail work on that is beautiful.

Breathtaking hat Alan! Love that color.

This recent talk of Vagabonds has me wearing my Knox Vagabond King, in a sage green. The felt is very lightweight, and not as "substantial" as I've read in other descriptions. It has a much broader brim, and much thinner felt than my Vagabond in the same color, which really is similar to a Stetson Playboy. I am actually thinking about spraying a little stiffener in the brim to keep it from developing a break where it creases a bit in front.

A rather cool morning, so I thought I'd give the Christy's black bowler another spin. Of course it was a bit warm on the way home. Will probably not see much action until the Autumn.

+1... I'm enjoying the brief return to felts on everyone.

I was reading last night about Straw Hat Day (May 15) and the return to felts on September 15, and thinking to myself that I am firmly outside if the traditional rule. Of course, one of the reasons that I collect lightweights ("four season" hats) is that they provide a longer wearing season.

At the risk of being called off-topic, I must point to the irony in the fact that this case was presided over by Magistrate Peter HATTING...
OF COURSE he would rule in favor of hat-wearing!

Thank you for another excellent post Alan!

Staying in the middle of the road and avoiding controversy with a Black Sheep Hat Works Pandora. Part straw, part felt.
