Is that "newer" to you, or a more recently made hat? More importantly, what is it? It's got a bit of interesting stove-pipe to it that I haven't seen before. I like it. :)

Today was one of my Adam Panama straws:

{Hey Rusty, click my main page Photobucket account link below and check out "Adam Panama 1" and "Adam Panama 2". These hats are essentially the same thing as the Supernatural. In fact, several companies, Stetson being another, imported these, labeled and trimmed 'em out for retail in the states. I know the "Supernatural" is a 'super' name and I love mine too, but I got these others to have backups and they are relatively plentiful online and can be picked up cheap. Only thing is, often they are somewhat delicate and brittle, compared to toquillo straw, but careful handling can get a lot of wear out of one for ya'. FYI.}

Lefty, I think that it is an old hat. It is stamped made in Equador but the quality is not there. I too like the strait-up crown.

I have a $34 hat on a 10-cent head -- a Scala straw hat a friend bought for me at a Richmond, Va., vintage shop. The hat is new, with a generous brim, and comfortable. With two little boys, I am careful in what I invest in a straw lid.

Thanks Gene! Man those are some sweet panamas you got.

Well, thank you. Mine are fine for my purposes (really only being interested in vintage) and budget (cringing at the thought of going over fifty bucks), but I've got to say that mcarthur's collection of straws is total class. Really beats what I've got!
