Our travels today took us to the Piney River Brewery near Bucyrus, Missouri. I was thinking that they were going to re-open today, but apparently that is not until next weekend. They were kind enough to allow my wife to use the bathroom and sell us a couple of four-packs of their "Raise A Ruckus" Imperial Stout (which I had been wanting to try for some time). Since they were sold warm I had to lead off with a PBR while they chilled.
This evening I was finally able to try it and ... wow ... I'm really liking this a lot! Definitely a heavily flavored coffee-stout, but (as this was the barrel aged version) a whiskey finish. This is not something to slam on a hot afternoon by the creek, but it is to be savored with your favorite grilled meats ... or at least grilled brussels spouts.
