Gray single-breasted blazer
Blue-and-white striped button-collar shirt
Solid red vintage ('50s?) bow tie
Black George trousers
Cordovan tassel loafers
Argyle socks
Black-and-red suspenders (very tight pattern -- overall effect is a burgundy color from any more than a foot away)
Gray Jaxon crushable fedora

Picture (hopefully!) when I get back home this evening.

Sunny and low 30s here in Wisconsin today, so of course I saw guys wearing flip-flops. :) It's practically summer!

Me, I still had a topcoat on:

Navy SB 3B ventless blazer (the "workhorse")
Oshkosh B'Gosh dark denim jeans, narrow cut with slightly wider leg openings (somewhat frayed bottoms because, hey, I've owned these for a while)
Brooks Bros. pink spread collar shirt with light blue windowpanes, open neck, crisp white tee underneath
Light blue cotton pocket square, twist fold
Vintage trout fly in left lapel
Waterman red-marble gold-capped ballpoint pen, shirt breast povket
Black jeans belt
Swiss Army watch with black band (right wrist)
Polished stainless steel link bracelet (left wrist)
Polo wire-frame glasses (in place of usual contact lenses)
Gold Toe navy ribbed OTC socks
Dan Post black calfskin pointy-toe cowboy boots (new acquisition)
Nautica black DB wool topcoat
Black leather gloves
Navy wool scarf with burgundy striping
Black leather flat cap
New haircut (by Roger of El Franz, the barber in Green Bay)

I have mixed feelings about jeans. On the one hand, I like them just fine: they're a versatile, indigenous American classic, I think they look good on me, and as a result I've got eight pairs in my closet and am not immune to buying more (in fact, I need a pair of black Wrangler bootcuts). On the other hand, I think jeans are way too ubiquitous, the sartorial default position for a huge number of Americans, and I feel a little contributing to that ubiquity even on weekends. The odd thing of it is, a lot of people aren't especially flattered by jeans; they are far from a "universal solvent."

Cheers Desdinova! Glad to see you got on.

You're looking good. I really like that cap.

Thanks! So do I. Believe it or not, I almost didn't buy it. Now I really like the way it looks.

These days Jeans are everything to everyone: they've got a working-class, proletarian image, but still come in flavors fancy, or ridiculously overpriced, enough to appeal to the rich and status-conscious. But someone who can't look decent in jeans probably isn't going to look good in much else, either. Then again, when was fashion ever about looking good? [huh]

EDIT: The hat doesn't really match the shirt in either color or pattern, but they do complement each other pretty well.

Love the look! Casual yet sporty -- and very classy.

Here's my contribution... pics of the ensemble I mentioned earlier...

Modern gray single-breasted blazer
Blue-and-white striped button-collar shirt
Solid red vintage ('50s?) bow tie
Black George trousers
Jarman cordovan tassel loafers
Argyle socks
Black-and-red suspenders
Gray Jaxon crushable fedora (my everyday "go-to" hat)

Despite looking blue (poor bathroom lighting! ), the socks are actually black with gray and tan diamonds, and dark red lines.

The bow-tie really adds the perfect touch. More men should wear them.

Sharp as always, thunderw. The back on that jacket is great -- and that tie has got to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

EDIT to add: I love the flecks of color in the jacket. I've got a houndstooth jacket that does something similar, that I should take pictures of some time.

night on the town

kept it working class with the jeans as we were off to see some bluegrass and old-timey music.
Brown town-craft hat (first fedora for me nothing fancy, yet)
2/3rds of a Jay Briggs suit
bvd frenchcuff button down (can't tell from the bad photo quality but it is purple and gold striped)
Leather belt with buckle
Levis
Green and white striped socks
Brown leather shoes with some nifty detailing

Apologizing for the poor quality. And cant seem to get the shoes to post so you'll have to hit the link.

Today it was dress down Sunday so for most of the day I stayed in my dressing gown. When I went to the shop, I put on a vintage weezer tshirt and a pair of smelly vintage jeans from 2006ish. On my eets I wore a pair of vintage Circa skate shoes. I didn't brush or wash my hair so I put on a wooly hat. Vintage of course.

Today I have spent the day in a 50s wrap house dress, wood slides, chiffon headscarf and no makeup because I have the dreaded pink eye! :(

No makeup tomorrow either as I don't want to infect my mascara...I have never ever been to work without makeup on....oh noes!
