I'm currently (speed) reading my way through Julius Evola's "Revolt Against the Modern World" -an appropriate title for this site I'd say- which will be followed by David Lynch's "Catching the Big Fish" which is about creativity and Trancendental Meditation. Actually, this is a CD of Lynch reading his book, so perhaps it doesn't fit in this thread. I do like to listen to Authors reading their work, though.

Just finished "Viking: The Norse Warriors [Unofficial] Manual" in time for the season. Lots of useful information on booking a cruise, the proper kit and the best places for souvenirs, such as Jorvik or maybe Miklagard (time permitting).

Just finished "The Rum Diary" by Hunter S. Thompson. Started in 1959 and finished somewhat later. Published in 1998 after Johnny Depp discovered it among Thompson's papers. Turned into a movie in 2011 starring Johnny Depp. It's a pretty good tale from the pre-gonzo period.

My favorite line on them comes courtesy of Ring Lardner: "Mr. Fitzgerald is a novelist and Mrs. Fitzgerald is a novelty."

I never heard
Of any true affection, but, 'twas nipt
With care, that, like the caterpillar, eats
The leaves of the spring's sweetest book, the rose.
