The Avenger, "Death Meets the Boat." Scandously blatant copy of The Shadow. Instead of wealthy man about town Lamont Cranston (Kent Allard) and "the lovely Margo Lane," we have Jim Brandon, well-to-do scientist and "the beautiful Fern Collier." Instead of the ability to cloud men's minds, we have the diffusion capsule, which cloaks Jim in the black light of invisibility.

The Untouchables, I saw this group at the student union while attendding the University of Nevada, back in the 80's. Your going to like the hats

I play in an Irish folk band with the trombone player from the Untouchables. He's basically been with them since the beginning. I've heard lots of (horror) stories, but I'd never heard any of their music before now.

Listening two two greats (J.J. Johnson & Kai Winding - actually 3 if you count Don Sebesky who did the arrangement) on My Funny Valentine.

Debroy Somers Band -- My Canary Has Circles Under His Eyes

Lyrics

Since making whoopee became all the rage
Even got to the old bird cage
And my canary has circles under his eyes
He used to whistle The Prisoner's Song
Now he does Snakehips the whole day long
My poor canary has circles under his eyes
His only pals are the yellow lark
And just a tiny sparrow
But I am scared when he's in the park
He leads the straight and narrow
I raised this birdie in manner so strict
Yet I've a feeling I am being tricked
Cause my canary has circles under his eyes

78s to rewind the second reel by --

Now playing, it's a fine record by Mildred Bailey and her Orchestra -- is there any other kind? -- in 1938, with "So Help Me," as Mr. Norvo taps delicately away on his gold-plated xylophone.

Next, ahead to 1942 with Kay Kyser and his Orchestra and the ultimate "don't ask don't tell" record, as Harry Babbitt croons romantically to his fella, with "He Wears A Pair Of Silver Wings." Trivia note: Of all entertainers in the WW2 era, Kay Kyser entertained the greatest number of troops and sold the greatest amount of war bonds. Not even Mr. Hope topped the Ol' Perfessor. So where's the congressional medal?
