Vera's style reminds me of Elvis Presley specifically this song "Suspicious Minds"

I pity the person who has to live with this....:eusa_doh: :eusa_doh:

Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds....

If you insist. You, however, please do get comfortable. ;)

Speaking of light, comfortable garments, why don't we partake of a little Cot Cot Cotton?

The year: 1927. The singer: Arthur "Mr. Enunciation" Fields. The sax soloist: the penetratingly perfervid Pete Pumiglio.

You're Such A Comfort to Me - Gene Kardos & Orchestra, 1933, with the always ebullient Chick Bullock on pipes.
4223437573_db8ac3d6e2_m.jpg
ChickBullock.JPG

The above is the only known photo of Chick, who had an eye disfigurement that prevented him from performing in public.
He gigged regularly on radio and in the recording studios, tho he never became a big name, no doubt because of his appearance.
The Kardos treatment is effective with baritone sax highlighting a 4-piece reed section, still unusual at the time.

TCM...

I took a liking to the songs on the TCM Obits for this 2009 and 2007... Something strangely alluring and uplifting about the individual songs...especially Promises. First time in awhile I'm not listening to Radio Dismuke or my swing playlists...

T.J. Fowler - He led a fine R&B orchestra out of Detroit in the late '40s & 50s, recording mostly on the Savoy label. He deftly mixed swing, jazz and R&B with an inventive series of recordings that I have always found compelling. He's something of a study of mine - I plan on modeling my own (future) band on his style. Paul "Hucklebuck" Williams on the Tenor.

This picture I took when I was in Australia in August 2009 reminds me of the graphic for "Better Together" by Jack Johnson. In fact the person standing at the tree made it perfect.

Just conjures up nice thoughts.....;) ;) :)

Starting off in 1929 with Paul Whiteman and his Orchestra, and a snappy tune for the times, "If I Had A Talking Picture Of You." Young Mr. Crosby takes the vocal, and he needs to work on his diction -- "talking pitcher" indeed.

Next up, ahead to 1940 with George Formby and his banjo-uke and a classic laughing-thru-the-Blitz-with-double-entendres number, "I Did What I Could With My Gas Mask." Wink wink, nudge nudge.

Mine too... My daughter, whom ironically we call "The Monkey", was watching the movie last night and proceeded to do a strange ballet/jazz combo like dance as soon as this song came on. lol

Why not rent a copy of "The Cocoanuts" and teach her to do "The Monkey Doodle-Doo"?

"Down among the mangoes, where the monkey gang goes
you can see that crew
all do the Monkey Doodle-doo!

Oh! the little monkey, playing on his one key
gives them all the cue
to do the Monkey Doodle-doo

Take your sweetie by the hand
over to the jungle band
if you're too old for dancing
then get yourself a monkey gland

and then let's go
see the little dearies proving Darwin's theories
telling me and you
to do the Monkey Doodle-doo!"
