I love that song, almost no matter who does it.John Cale’s version of Hallelujah. My favourite version.
You only say that because you haven’t heard me butcher it at karaoke!I love that song, almost no matter who does it.
As an audiophile, Waltz for Debby is one of my absolute favorite albums to get into when I have the house to myself. Partly because it was recorded brilliantly, and partly because Scott LaFaro was such an amazing bassist. What a terrible loss, that he died so young. EnjoyChilling to some Bill Evans. That was the album I was listening to! I have enjoyed Bill Evans for some time now, but the way we consume music these days, it’s easy to chuck on some Bill Evans (or whoever) without knowing exactly what you’re listening to. I’m guilty of that at times, but today I looked around for something I really wanted to hear and that’s what I came up with. Wynton Kelly, another one of the best. He worked with a lot of great bands. Also died too young. That was the album I was listening to! I got into jazz through a completely random purchase of another of Miles Davis’ pianists - Wynton Kelly. I still love that first purchase - love his bluesy style.
